Last week GD was drawing an Easter picture, it was of the Easter bunny and some eggs in a garden except the bunny looked exactly like the Lindt one and even had the bell round it's neck.

Are those bunnies and egg hunts a US invention, like trick or treat?
Bunny more popular here in Oz I think, than in UK.

Fine! I'm to bed !
See you all tomorrow!

O.K. I will start a new thread!

No! My first memory of Easter is losing my two front teeth on a piece of toast and marmalade on an Easter Sunday breakfast!
I've never eaten marmalade since then!

When did Easter bunnies start - I'm sure that when I was a small child we never had bunny's. Chick's, eggs, hot cross buns and obviously the story of Easter - but bunnies...
And Easter Egg hunts - that never happened either - or did I just have a sad childhood without these things?
Oh dear - I'm off on the "bunny theme" again, got them on my mind at the moment, sorry!

Should we have a new thread for virtual Easter lunch on lesbos?
Sounds like Greek food to me! I ADORE mezze!

Pernod! Not too much diluted?

Greatnan Fri 06-Apr-12 20:44:58

You are on, jeni. What shall we have for an aperitif? I think I will start with a Buck's Fizz, so I can pace myself.
I know a tiny restaurant overlooking a bay of very blue sea on Lesbos.
However, I am willing to try your favourite restaurant.
Any more people flying solo?

i love Easter because when i walk down the street on Easter Sunday, strangers say to me "He is risen!"
it's the only time of year that Christians come out of their closets...

Interesting, isn't it, that Easter (i.e. spring) is about chocolate eggs now wink. Ask any bunch of not too indoctrinated kids what Easter means and they'll say "chocolate eggs". I've done it and got that response. I love it. grin

jeni Fri 06-Apr-12 20:22:14

I'm on my own as well! Virtual lunch?

Greatnan Fri 06-Apr-12 20:14:26

As a non-chocolate-eating atheist, I don't know how to reply when friends wish me a Happy Easter. It will just be a normal weekend for me, but I do not wish to appear ungracious. I do celebrate the Winter Solstice on 25th December as a matter of convenience, rather than accuracy, with either my sister or my daughter. I can't get to either of them for just a couple of days, so I will be alone as usual - perhaps I will treat myself to a meal in a posh restaurant.
