my Dgs (aged 6) was - inexplicably! - allowed to partake of the communion wine.

As he raised the miniature glass that they use to his lips he said, loud and clear "Cheers!"

They do let you down don't they?
I remember once, in the church my family attended and I played in the church orchestra!
My mother actually came, I can't remember why?
But DS aged about 4 said in a very LOUD voice!
'mama! In CHURCH?!!!!!!!!!!!!'
She never came againsad

Wots that's such a lovely story. And the mama one. I'm sure Jesus wouldn't have minded.

I'm wondering now if I could make some money sending the story into the letters page of a woman's mag.

Recoup some of the Easter egg money? grin

jeni Mon 09-Apr-12 11:01:28

How many Easter eggs did you eat?

I remember going to Sunday School and putting my 6d collection in the plate and taking a threepenny bit out! my mother was mortified when I proudly showed it to her when I got home. blush

I was quite proud of them later on in the day Greatnan, when we went out for a walk and they were singing "Thine be the Glory" at the tops of their voices! grin

Regarding a child taking communion, it is the practice at quite of lot of churches now that as long as they have been baptised (and, of course, adults too, who are in this situation) anyone can take communion even though they have not been confirmed. Our PCC had to vote to agree the change and consequently there is a note on our service sheets to that effect.

Loved the comment the little one made, though!

GillieB I was very surprised! I thought it might be because they are between vicars at the moment, and perhaps the lay people were running away with themselves a bit! grin But I see from your post that it is getting to be the norm.

Thank you. smile
