Feeling sorry for myself. Seem to have got to 60 and after a lifetime of working and looking after family then grandson find that I have no real friends. Didn't seem to notice when I was so busy, sounds daft I know, now I find I do not have the knack of making friends. I get out and about as much as possible and do meet people. I think I am fairly nice and normal, friendly and not really shy but friendships do not come I have no one I can I could go out with for a coffee or phone for a chat. Feel really lonely, time on my hands etc. Looking back this has always been the case. Read all sorts of tips about how to make friends but nothing seems to work for me. Something must put people off me I think. Anyone else like me?

Annike sometimes funerals can be occasions to share happy memories and you will be with people who care about you that also cared about your dear friend. Don't be too sad the whole day - there will be some sunny moments flowers

Annika Wed 02-May-12 19:24:24

Thank you all so much, it helps so much knowing that so many of you care, what a wonderful lot you all are .
These are for all of you flowers

Annika it will be a horrible day but you will get through - somehow we always do don't we. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and if the tears come everyone around you will understand. You are a loving Grandma and everyone will recognise that.
Sending you warm hugs and flowers.
Remember your GN friends - we are all here and rooting for you xxx

Ariadne Wed 02-May-12 19:16:45

Oh, I do, Annika! And I give you my virtual shoulder to cry or lean on, with love. xxxx

Tomorrow (Thursday) is the day of the funeral for my best friend. I am not looking forward to it at all. Because she was not only my friend but mother-in-law to my son, it seems extra hard, Our two grandchildren will be there and I know I have to be strong for them. I promised my friend that I would take extra care of them for her so I guess it will start tomorrow , big cuddles all round and try not to cry in front of them. Wish me luck sad

Annika big hugs and understanding from Malvern. You do need to grieve and if GN is where you want to do it, just go ahead. I've only been on for a week and feel everyone is very supportive.

glammanana Wed 02-May-12 12:38:29

soops OK I will programme it in to the Sat-nan grin

soop Wed 02-May-12 12:25:08

glamma Think it had better be afternoon. Just head towards Glasgow, bear left and keep going 'til you hit the west coast. I shall be wearing my flashing goggle-specs. Can't miss me...but if you should, take care as you spin over the sea towards the Paps of Jura...it's a bit rocky out there grin

glammanana Wed 02-May-12 12:01:24

Only if you read the Sat-Nan Soop as I am not very good with directions, hense me always over shooting the River Mersey and ending up in Liverpool ??? grin What time will you be ready have we sorted that yet.

soop Wed 02-May-12 11:42:05

I'll not be offended wink

soop Wed 02-May-12 11:41:08

harri and glamma I believe I've tried to cadge a lift on both your broomsticks blush Perhaps one of you could take me to the party and the other see me safely home...unless of course you'd rather not be seen with a person wearing a lurex jumpsuit and knee-high, white "pretend leather" boots, who needs to be supported by crutches whilst singing Nellie Deane loudly and way out of tune. Talk it over between yourselves grin

glammanana Tue 01-May-12 22:26:18

harri my 4x4 turbo charged broomstick came from B&Q mr glamma reckons it runs on "Verbal Gas" I do not have the slightest idea what he could mean by that ? I could get insulted if I was that way inclined grin

nelliedeane Tue 01-May-12 19:55:08

nanachrissy may do if she adds beans grin

nelliedeane Tue 01-May-12 19:53:37

nanachrissy Sat 28-Apr-12 21:05:22

Harri that will just make you "Jet propelled!" grin

harrigran Sat 28-Apr-12 19:47:01

soop I don't do chilly, it is toasty warm and even has extra tartan rugs for our knees. It is better than sat- nav it is gran-nav, I just type in the gran's name and away we go. Could be dodgy tonight I have a big pot of leek and potato soup that I made yesterday grin

soop Sat 28-Apr-12 13:46:14

harri Is your broomstick turbo-charged? Does it have sat-nav? What time should I expect you? Where shall we have a trial run? Do I need to wear my thermals...or is it centrally heated? grin

harrigran Sat 28-Apr-12 11:09:26

I got a new broomstick last week. DH actually thinks it is his for brushing the leaves off the artificial grass but I know better wink

harrigran Sat 28-Apr-12 11:07:54
