Gransnet (of course), an occasional peep at Mumsnet, Chris Evans' blog on Radio 2, BBC, Daily Mail, Google News, Facebook, Twitter, John Lewis, M&S, Boden, Land's End, Amazon, a couple of weather sites, South West Trains (when it's nearly time to go home), TV Spy - all these on my work computer. When I'm at home, all these plus iTunes, BBC iPlayer, occasionally Friends Reunited, Genes Reunited and Ancestry.

Is this too much. Should I get a life? hmm

Gransnet, a couple of French ex-pat forums, The Guardian, the New Statesman, Twitter, Facebook, the weather. I usually only get 20 minutes at a time before our pathetic French "broadband" falls over and I can't use anything like Youtube.

Always open with Gransnet like everyone else, look at Facebook, Ancestry sites, various games and puzzle sites and YouTube. The latter being great in bringing up really old Laurel and Hardy films.

I always open Gransnet First,
check my emails to see if any messages...
then look at Facebook to see what DC, DGC and family are up to.

Then I have a look on Twitter, which I am just getting the hang of (anyone else on Twitter, give me a shout and I will look out for you)

ohh then the trouble starts...... its my very bad Amazon habit, I am trying not to log on there today but the temptation is very huge.

I leave all the tabs open on the laptop and come and have a quick look as I am passing during the day, if I am in the house.

Forgot You Tube . Go on there often if I want to find out how to do something e.g learn a new embroidery stitch ( latest hobby)

As well as all the ones listed above (isn't it strange that so many crop up time and again?) I look at one called Intolerant Gourmet which has loads of recipes for people with food allergies. I enjoy keeping an eye on friends and family on Facebook and I play Wordscraper on there two or three times a day.

Dozens of sites - surf whilst I am watching TV. I am a member of three French expat sites, one Swiss, and one New Zealand.
Facebook only works if you have plenty of family and friends who use it, which I have.
I bank on-line, read most UK daily papers that are available, BBC News, catch up on programmes I have missed, plan my journeys, read up on various medical problems, check my utility bills, have a smile at Youtube crazy cats videos, order books, find out the names of actors I have forgotten, look up lyrics of songs........the problem is, that whenever I go on to one site I get led on to another, and another.
Fortunately, apart from my two or three hour daily walk I have all day to myself and the internet is my link with the outside world. I couldn't live here without it.

nuttynana forgot Tripadvisor and holiday sites book pretty much most of our holidays on line now. I'm with you on Facebook, occasionally glanced at my kids' Facebook pages, such a load of old rubbish and Twitter, first heard about that when Stephen Fry tweeted he'd got stuck in a lift, why do people, famous or otherwise feel they have to up date all and sundry about every trite detail of their daily life. Oh and I forgot LOL cats, because I adore them, and I don't have one as all my immediate family claim they are allergic to fur. I'd better go because I think I'm starting to sound mundane and trite!

Amazon, Ebay, and Facebook. I use the latter to keep up with a few friends and family, but don't have a great list of friends on it. I'm an ebay addict and have bought and sold lots confused over the last few years. smile

Libradi Tue 17-Apr-12 18:18:00

As well as dipping in and out of gransnet I use facebook to keep up with family and friends and also on facebook a couple of local history groups. I love browsing Amazon and ebay and another favourite site is Moneysaving Expert. I've tried twitter but just can't get on with it. I've recently found this book review site that looks interesting petronatwo.wordpress.com/

Fast getting hooked on daily Gransnet! Although I am a gran and proud of it I wish it sounded less "OLD" because we are not old . Are we?

GoldenGran Tue 17-Apr-12 18:16:16

Mostly Gransnet, which I am hooked on, Boden, Amazon, Kindle daily deal, I surf around a lot. But Gransnet and Amazon are my most regular.

nuttynana Tue 17-Apr-12 18:13:15

Amazon reviews for anything I might even be vaguely interested in buying and the Telegraph website, although DH brings it home each evening. I occassionally dip into Right Move if I have walked or driven through an idyllic village to dream about affording a house there. M&S I agree, so less often now.
Search holiday sites when planning a holiday and Trip Advisor which I think you need to take with a pinch of salt and read between the lines.

Steer clear of e bay these days, a couple of years ago found I got easily carried away and brought a load of rubbish! Facebook not for me and would not know how to twitter or tweat.

There is a very good site called Top Documentary films so I indulge my love of history by watching programmes on that. Educational you see so absolutely O.k to sit for another hour in front of a screen drinking cofee and dunking biscuits!

It's so tempting to go online and browse around, especially on here, but at least it's moderated my Amazon habit of buying books. I still buy the odd one every week, or download them from there onto my Kindle, or the local library on to my Sony eReader (for free), but I'm not spending anywhere near as much as I used to - it's so easy to click and buy! And yes gracesmum it does explain the fat a*se! grin

eGJ Tue 17-Apr-12 17:58:36

That "kindle daily deal" I learned about on Gransnet!!! grin

MaggieP Tue 17-Apr-12 17:53:04

Gransnet is very addictive I agree, Amazon, The Times on line, BBC news, I dip into M & S.
Since I acquired my iPad, I am on Google and surfing too much me thinks!
How do I learn to leave it alone?

baNANA Tue 17-Apr-12 17:40:57

I meant Ebay, I said Amazon in the first post.

goldengirl Tue 17-Apr-12 17:36:07

Ebay! And of course Gransnet. I've tried Facebook but find it boring. DH thinks I should try Twitter I could try out my project ideas on a wide range of people. Don't think I can be bothered though. Lands End and Lakeland are my other two favourites and I also enjoy a browse on Rightmove from time to time as I'd love to move house - but again can't be 'hassed', and DH doesn't want to anyway.

baNANA Tue 17-Apr-12 17:33:07

Oh I forgot Amazon, yes that too, I've got to get out more!

gracesmum Tue 17-Apr-12 17:26:12

Oh I have an Amazon habit second to none, I also like nosing on Rightmove, M&S (but less recently as their stuff is rubbish) eBay can effectively kill several hours, Rural Muse, pop into Facebook, but again how boring to read that somebody is having toast and beans for tea, Gransnet at least 3 times a day. No wonder my a*se is spreading!

baNANA Tue 17-Apr-12 17:20:44

I'm starting to use Gransnet on a daily basis now and I'm finding it quite addictive. I also use Ancestry, Genes Reunited, in fact I've lost days, no probably weeks of my life to both of those. I daily check the websites of The DM, Independent, DT, don't do the Times because you have to subscribe now but actually buy it on Saturday and Sunday anyway. I like the BBC Good Food site particularly for down loading recipes. Also use Right Move, Marks and Spencer, but more for clothes for my two year old granddaughter now, Also Waitrose, My Supermarket for price comparisons. I dip into Mumsnet, but only for book reviews now, a couple of my best reads of late came from some recommendations on their site. I also like to check readers' reviews of books on Amazon and Waterstones before I buy a book. Also my two nearest Odeons if we are planning to see a film. In fact reading through this I'm appalled at how inactive I've become!
