Caught the end of your interview on Breakfast this morning. Very impressive!

(And you looked lovely, too!) <shallow>

Not quite sure what the earlier references were, but - yes - I was one of the first posters on Gransnet, and I popped over from Mumsnet to say something nice about Geraldine.

BBC news channel is still showing the tea dancers, OFGS, not something I would do. I was still running around playing singles badminton when I was 61.

Missed Geraldine boo-hoo! Can I see it again? I went onto 'Breakfast'.
but it said 'This clip is no longer available'
sad

Geraldine. I saw the whole interview on Breakfast and you were great and made That Man look pathetic. Well done.

You look so young and pretty and you're so articulate. Viewers must have wondered what you have in common with the tea dancers and the bowls club people. They all looked bored out of their minds! Not at all like lively, youthful gransnetters.

Ah, there you are jingl. grin

forpetessake Thu 19-Apr-12 10:22:29

Caught a bit on the news Radio2. Very nice.

Right Geraldine, you've done the soft targets now. John Humphreys next please. I might sleep through actually get to catch it then. smile

love from jingl. x

As in, "If you can remember the Isle of Wight festival you weren't there"?

Anagram Thu 19-Apr-12 10:13:13

What clip could they have shown which would be more appropriate, d'you think? Isle of Wight Festival 1970? grin (I was there, or it could have been the year after.....)

glassortwo Thu 19-Apr-12 10:09:35

I think the impression younger folk have of the over 50's is tea dances, and I for one have never been to one or know anyone who has. Not that I am knocking anyone that enjoys them.

Anagram Thu 19-Apr-12 10:08:56

Tea dances? I don't know anyone of around my age who has ever been to one...!

janthea Thu 19-Apr-12 10:06:03

You looked lovely. Mind you, I only saw the first couple of minutes as I had to catch my train to work. Maybe they showed your boots later!!

Mamie Thu 19-Apr-12 10:05:54

You looked great and I thought you made very short work of his feeble arguments. I think he always looks faintly embarassed by what he is saying, does anyone else get that impression? It seems a shame that the BBC had to illustrate it with a clip of a tea dance though. I have nothing against tea dances per se (though I have never been to one), but it did feel like a bit of stereotyping.

glassortwo Thu 19-Apr-12 10:02:09

Sorry I didnt hear see you Geraldine but I know you would have handled it well, and you will have looked ' in Vogue' with your boots and dress wink

GeraldineGransnet (GNHQ) Thu 19-Apr-12 09:53:24

It was granny tax (again). Thanks...the man from the Intergenerational Foundation (now, there's a misnomer...) thinks what he calls 'boomers' - by which he implies 'people who drain resources' - should be taxed more!

I went up to Salford last night in my ancient jeans, moth-eaten sweater and biker boots, carrying a dress in a bag. Unfortunately, I left the shoes I meant to take in London. I asked if they could avoid pointing the camera at my lower half but they said the battered boots made me look like I had 'own style.'

They meant I looked weird. Now on train back to London, still in the dress and boots.

I can't find any record of Geraldine on TV today, when I tried to Google or You Tube, so please enlighten us Geraldine!

JessM Thu 19-Apr-12 09:05:57

Carol Thu 19-Apr-12 08:29:40

Definitely Jingle. Nice to have you back. I didn't know Geraldine had been on Breakfast - missed it!

Ariadne Thu 19-Apr-12 08:22:15

Hello anyway!

Wasn't Geraldine good - articulate and assertive. Well done, G!

glassortwo Thu 19-Apr-12 08:17:51
