I suppose I'm going to be shot down, but I am not looking forward to the Olympics. It's going to make getting to work harder and it will be wall to wall TV coverage. Thank heavens for Sky! hmm

I won't be shooting you down janthea! For me, it's like the World Cup - weeks of wall to wall sport. I only like Wimbledon smile

I AM NOT ALONE - hurrah!! I totally agree about football and the World Cup.

Anagram Thu 19-Apr-12 13:33:14

I'm with you both. And what a waste of money! shock

janthea Thu 19-Apr-12 13:41:57

And we the tax payers are paying for it!!

janthea Thu 19-Apr-12 13:43:00

My son in law thinks I'm mad not to look forward to it!!

I won't shoot you down in flames janthea but I am looking forward to watching those events that interest me , the athletics, swimming , sailing . The rest I shall avoid and thank goodness I no longer work in central London. I have sympathy for those of you who will indeed struggle to get to work while the Games are in progress.. As for the football I won't be watching any of that if I can help it grin

My new year's resolution this year was to try and avoid seeing any part of the olympics on TV. This will mean never watching the news for the duration!

Oldgreymare Thu 19-Apr-12 15:50:41

I'm peeved because I didn't get tickets like so many 'ordinary' people. I can't bring myself to throw 'watching parties' AND I think the mascots are pornographic!!!! Rant over! blush

Agree with all of you. I am bored rigid with the whole thing but will probably be watching the closing of the Olympics and opening of Paralympics as my s-i-l is playing in the guards bands (assuming they are still doing it). Don't know if there is a thread about the Jubilee (which I am also bored with but have to put up with because said s-i-law is supposed to be playing fanfare trumpet at the start of the river thingie).

janthea Thu 19-Apr-12 16:13:09

I'm looking forward to the Jubilee - 4 day weekend!!! Also I like the pageantary - fun! grin

I'm avoiding London and Weymouth during the Olympic period - and the TV channels showing sport, which means the majority of them I suspect.

tenacre3 Thu 19-Apr-12 17:57:37

Am i alone, i couldn't get tickets for the Olympics and i love athletics, so i booked a Blue Badge Tour around the Stadium on the 26th April, before the gates shut prior to the Olympics. I am so looking forward to it.smile

goldengirl I can't avoid London, I am in the middle of it, we were going to go away then, but plans fell through. So now I have decided,as I won't be able to move about owing to all the extra people,to put away my grumpiness and curmudgeonliness, and to sit back and enjoy! I will be watching the swimming and diving, athletics, equestrian events etc; If you can't beat them you may as well smile and join themsmile sunshine
