I like the word manana,my mum used to why do today what you can put off until tomorrow, I dont live alone maniac so only a third of the dishes, laundry, etc is my mess,we can jolly well take it in turns...and they can have first go grin

Maniac Thu 26-Apr-12 14:50:15

nelliedean and Jacey I'm definitely in your gang.Housework low on my priority list.No dishwasher.Wash up when there is a bowlful -I'm saving water.
One good thing about living alone I can do as I like -when I like.

My husband has classical music on from morning to night, and while I love most of it a lot of the time, I'd love to listen to something a bit less worthy sometimes. You know, The Beatles, Stones, Queen, misc 60s music, a bit of folk perhaps.....

We had the telly on watching Doctor Who tonight, but my sister rang for our weekly natter, and when I got back the telly was off and classical was back on.

I confess - I want to scream and run.(But it's dark outside.........)

glassortwo Thu 26-Apr-12 09:39:04

jingle do you fancy a cuppa and a natter not that I am trying to avoid the housework or anything this afternoon I have to make a van load of scones for a fund raiser at school tomorrow.

I seem to notice the cold more. Not necessarily feel colder, just find it more off putting. So I don't go out so much.

I've always been affected by the weather, but more these days.

kittylester Thu 26-Apr-12 09:23:23

I just love weather of any sort. We lived in Melbourne, Australia not Derbyshire, for a year. They had very little in the way of weather and we couldn't wait to get back to 'proper', changeable, weather! grin

nelliedeane Thu 26-Apr-12 09:04:57

Am so glad I am not the only one with a sad/smile depending on wether the sun is shining even though I am a happy little soul by nature, its not my mood that suffers but the inclination to do jobs sunshine is out at moment so off to pick up Ellies ...she is a lovely black lab....offerings before the rain settles in again ..by which time I will be sat hopefully in a country pub with a wine and a nice pub lunch in front of me,OH is off college today, have also got a new dress to pick up happy nellie smile

Gally Thu 26-Apr-12 06:46:20

Think I willl have to build an ark - it's still raining - absolutely chucking it down. Could do with some of Jingl's 'blue skies and sunshine' sunshine

Ariadne Thu 26-Apr-12 05:44:36

jingl I agree! Blue skies and sunshine and I feel much more ready to do things. Sunshine lifts your spirits.sunshine

Oldgreymare Wed 25-Apr-12 23:31:28

Me too imjingle... all this cold and rain sends me into a state of suspended animation!
Lots of niggly jobs to do/no inclination to do them. sad in April HUH!

imjingl Wed 25-Apr-12 23:08:23

syberia bit late in the thread to reply to your post. Sorry.

I think the rain creates my mood. I can change instantly with the sun coming out.

glammanana Wed 25-Apr-12 23:03:53

Barney the lovely JR walks around and around the tree and lifts his leg about 50 times I'm sure he cannot possibly hold that much wee ? he has a favourite place for no2s and with him being so small mr glamma can clean up straight away and flush so no smells.smileTo-day has been heavy rain and even hailstones and yes Barney has wanted to go out every half hour we are fed up with getting wet and putting on his harness.

gracesmum Wed 25-Apr-12 22:50:40

Gracie also has her favourite places even on her nightly walkie - fortunately one of these is practically underneath the doggy doo bin - could I perhaps take a ladder with me and get her to do it directly IN the bin?grin

nelliedeane Wed 25-Apr-12 21:54:29

Kitty, our dog is a creature of habit and likes to find the same patch of grass which is worthy of her deposit we always to know when she is about to do afore mentioned deposit as she goes round and round and back and forth until she finds a patch that suits once she finds it she adopts a look of fierce look of concentration and deposits so it is easy to know where to look,I also adopt the same attitude as a landmine detector and walk up an down in straight lines armed with a bucket lined with a bin bag and a pair of food tongs bought specially for the job and disposable plastic gloves as it has been raing heavily here it is not a job I am relishing as consistency is affected unfortunately it appears to be my job as no one else will do it....maybe TMI but this is nellies worldgrin

dorsetpennt Wed 25-Apr-12 20:50:23

Hate washing up, wish I had a dishwasher - I wash everything in the morning after breakfast - one of the perks of living solo. Cheesed off with the rain, although I know we need it desparately, I really want to get out in the garden and be able to spend a long time in it with out being pelted with hailstones. Or go and look at the bluebells in the New Forest or walk along the sea front.sad

petallus Wed 25-Apr-12 20:41:44

kittylester I am imagining that your dog barks every time he performs grin

kittylester Wed 25-Apr-12 20:30:18

Hope all is ok with you phoenix flowers

Isn't it a worry nellie when you get round to doing that and you can't find as many as you expect. Our dog is too old to go for walks now and if we have had lots of rain I can leave it three or four days which should equal 9/12 heaps. He will insist on doing it on the bark which is really good camouflage. I know, far too much information!! grin I have no washing up piling up though!!!!

imjingl Wed 25-Apr-12 19:56:07

Good luck with that one! grin

nelliedeane Wed 25-Apr-12 19:54:00

I am the same Jingle 4pm is my slump, and mornings I have more energy but less inclination and like to go out,I fit jobs around the school hours do bits in between tomorrows priority picking up doggie doo doo in the garden xx

imjingl Wed 25-Apr-12 19:49:46

nellie grin It's all done now.

I even popped out in the garden to do a bit, now it's stopped raining for a while. smile

I get a 'slump' in the afternoons. I get plenty done in the mornings (though not the washing up today!), but then my get up and go seems to depart until around five-ish. hmm

Jacey Wed 25-Apr-12 19:41:00

Yes nelliedeane ...I live in "nellie's world" too smile

It does always pan out ...in the end!! But I can always find better things to do than housework!! grin

nelliedeane Wed 25-Apr-12 19:25:27

welcome to nellies world jingle, some jobs get done, and some do not it all pans out in the end, i.e both toilets and bathroom squeaky clean..washing up in sink..,or bed unmade .no fluff under it...washing up done....do I care...not on your nellie ..grin
