The initial op went to plan, but Sam's recovery took a downward turn on Wednesday when they discovered that another small hole had appeared due to the pressure caused by patching the 1st one. They took him back to theatre that day, and things went a bit haywire from there. Last night it was touch and go whether he would make it. By this time he also had a partially collapsed lung.

However, he's made of strong stuff thank God, and this morning he had rallied. And is now hopefully on the slow journey to good health.

Thanks everyone flowers

ninathenana Wed 02-May-12 16:06:16

glass, soop and all you lovely people, thank you so much for your concern.

Samuel had his stiches out today and is moving to his local hospital in the next 24hrs.
They won't allow him home just yet as they have had to insert a long term feeding tube because he has lost his sucking reflex.

But it's all good news grin grin grin

Just wondering how Samuel is doing, anyone heard anything?

It's 20 months since our lovely Laura was in SCBU and fighting to cope with a collapsed lung after arriving 5 weeks early. She is a bright and beautiful little gem and a real reassurance that these wee folk can be tough little fighters. Love to Samuel from Laura and her Gran. xx

ninathenana, so glad things are going well for little Samuel. flowers

I too was wondering how little Samuel's operation went and was hoping all had gone well. You must have been frantic with worry and I am so pleased that things seem to be settling down now after, what must have been a very frightening post-op problem. Bless him - he is obviously a fighter.
Take care of yourselves as you will soon be run ragged catching up with him!
God bless you all and my prayers for you all will continue flowers flowers flowers
