Today I've been mainly.........Vol. 5

Have been on trains all day. From Dundee to Edinburgh to Manchester to Stockport! Sitting all day, how is it that I feel tired? I've had a lovely weekend and the weather in Scotland was so much better than the reports said it was in the south. Lunches out to celebrate sister's birthday and my other sister from NZ was there too. My last chance to see her for some time, I fear. Must get Skype up and running.
It was a glorious morning when the train was running along the Fife coast and I was thinking of Gally and green. The view along the Forth of Forth was so beautifully clear I didn't want to leave.

DH was right then; letting my imagination run riot again.

It might have been the Spanish 'flu pandemic arty in 1918/1919. It killed millions across the world. Very sad.

Today recovering from having GS for weekend (enjoyed every minute!). Lovely afternoon, so we went for a walk (DS breaking in his new boots before we tackle the Pembrokeshire coast path next week!). We had a mooch round a village church yard and were intrigued by one of the family headstones. Son aged 23 killed in France in 1917. Daughter died in 1918. Father died in 1919 aged 70 and mother died aged 70 in 1923. I was weighed down by the thought that the parents might have died of broken hearts. DH says I let my imagination run away with me and took me to the nearest pub! When we got home, phone call from GS "Nanny can you please look under the sofa and see if you can find batman!" Batman duly found - all is right with the world!

Keeping an eye (through binoculars) on the building of the beacon at the top of the East Lomond Hill - of which we have an uninterrupted view from our back windows. It will be lit at 10.30pm. *Gally should be able to see the one at North Berwick - as should Elegran, I think?

Well most of the baking is done for the tea-party tomorrow pm and I have made a chicken liver pate and that is cooling prior to going in the fridge,what a job getting chicken livers you would have thought I had two heads when I asked the young butcher in Morrisons for it ? but hey-ho its done now,just put in the Lemon Drizzle cake (my all time failsafe) so that will be cooling soon before I slice it up.I cheated and bought some ready made mini pasties but have made the sausage rolls with proper sausage meat not that enemic stuff that you see in the super market.So a good day should be had by all all we have to do is hope the rain stays away as my lounge is too small for entertaining everyone who is invited.

How many people have you hit with your arrows so far?

Scything (mind the tiny frogs!), sewing (no stabbed thumbs today), and supervising ten-eleven year old cookie-making. Plus the usual chores.

Doing bits of gardening and wondering whether it will make my slightly creaky back better or worse. I suspect I know the real solution - strengthen my flabby abdominals...
Not too much gardening you understand, because earlier I witnessed the maiden flight of one of the bluetits (nest boxes have been up for about 6 years - at last - a brood!). What a dodgy week to make ones debut as a baby bird! So I have been taking lots of breaks to give ma and pa bluetit a chance to feed them and show them the ropes. Will be watching to see if any of them make it to the peanut feeder by the end of the week
I wonder if ma and pa will go for another brood in the same spot, having had one lot reared.

Taking pictures of my five newly hatched silkie chicks to send to the GC. They are so sweet and the silke hen, which I bought from an auction very cheaply (forgive the pun) because nobody else wanted her, is a fantastic mum.

Yesterday was a family day with daughters & grandkids etc enjoying taking the p laughing at the terrible commentators..not much to choose between channels.. and being slightly irreverent about the whole royal shenanagins (sp?) but enjoying the spectacle of the flotilla..though it did go on a bit!

Off out to lunch with friends today for a not jubilee lunch!

Relaxing day today. Yesterday I saw my son and grandson, who came here for lunch - it still gives me such pleasure to see them on the sofa, playing daft games and exchanging banter, with lots of laughs and giggles, and my dog nestling in the middle of their legs. After their separation last year, I will never take seeing them together for granted again.

Afterwards, I visited my dear friend who had had a new knee op last week and is already up and about and determined to get fit quick. Both us us not royalty fans, but really appreciated the scene on the Thames.

Today, I am sitting here, cup of tea in hand, having a few laughs on Gransnet and planning to do very little, other than walk the dog, tidy my bedroom, and this evening I'm going to watch Quantum of Solace on the TV. No need to water the garden - hurray!!

Annika I had one too - they aren't any good. But you can use the ones with shelves and a 'gable' roof - if you take out the top shelves and some of the framework!

Yesterday I was tired out, not much sleep after A&E visit with daughter...so the pageant was just the thing....not bothered about the queen much but the boats were fascinating. A great pity that the old 'Waverley' paddle steamer had dropped out though, I would have liked to see her.

I saw most of it except the beginning hour - I was snoozing and missed it!

Is it Groundhog Day in England? DH watched the weather forecast at 5.55am UK time and it was for Sunday??

Yesterday I was mainly trying out my new bow. Shooting arrows into the hillside because the target boss hasn't arrived yet. Arrows can be difficult to find when they land in long grass at an acute angle to the ground and bury themselves up to the fletches, so I also spent some time crawling around searching for them.
