Today I've been mainly.........Vol. 5

Lovely weather here today, DS brought GC and we went to see HMS Ocean, foggy when we got to the river. DH Disappointed to see the poor state of the ship he built. Children wanted to go to the beach but not possible with the fog so we went 5 miles inland and played in a playground where the sun was glorious. This is the last time I will see GC for 6 weeks as they are off on holiday and as they return to GB we are leaving

OGM, I had gorgeous gnocchi in Verona - not far from the amphitheatre. I don't often see them in any of the Italian restaurants around here.

Thank you peeps! I wish everone could have have happy days like this. Yes, paddling pools, nakedness, mums and dads getting soaked every now and then, trampoline and lots of ice lollies and strawberries. Not one of us thought to take photos! Kicking myself now, but I was having such a happy time, I completely forgot.

When is the new baby going to have a name nanaej? Looking forward to hearing the news. There have been some lovely baby names shared on here

We had houseful too with both DDs their OHs and the DGCs including week old DGS2 still unnamed! Paddling pool and nakedness was the order of the day! (but only for the under 7's!)

Jess M... did I miss you in Florence? When were you there? I had a yen for gnocchi (?) but only managed to order them once! They're potato-ey aren't they?

when! How lovely when everything comes together like that.

For the first time in many months I spent the afternoon with all my four children and five grandchildren at a family barbeque. My son brought my grandson along. At one time I thought I would never see this day as ex-DIL kept putting a spanner in the works, but at last we were all together and had such a lovely time. He is getting to know his little twin girl cousins who are 7 months old, and his two adoring boy cousins hovered around him asking him questions and generally being little nuisances from the perspective of a 12 year old. What a special day!

Up at sparrows cough, Mr Annika thought it would be a good idea to mow the lawn at stupid o'clock ! bet he will be asleep on the sofa this afternoon. So as not to waste the day, sponge cake and scones are made , chicken is in the oven and now off to do the veg, who said Sunday was a day of rest

The trouble with the kind of exercise that burns up 1000 calories is that it makes you hungry!

Some revenge has been exacted by two of my neighbours with very loud voices, underneath their windows, whilst they were sleeping off the hangovers! [evil]

Don't suppose they give a monkey's!

Mine has managed a chocolate free week. That is a start. And if he can do his cycling regularly he burns up an extra 1000 calories a go!

DH has been cutting down on carbs lately and is losing weight. He needed needs to! Still, it's working where nothing else has.

My neighbours had a noisy barbeque last night....they didn't go on too late, but I think the heat is getting to some people, as some were quarreling in the road at 2am, very unusual for here.

Bags if I ever have to feed a marathon runner they sound just perfect for "carb loading" - they do sound great. Somehow a bit too great for my DH who has put on weight again. He would love those. His irish side really likes potatoey things - he got v excited in Florence because they did a kind of ravioli with potato inside

An electric drill would be even more effective, chrissy.

Ella64 I am tempted to say do you have any hammering that needs doing while they are probably sleeping it off? But that would just be unkind and would not help your headache!

So far today I have been slouched on the sofa with a headache after a sleepless night! Next door neighbours had a PARTY!
I'm such a grumpy old woman but why do they all come outside and talk in loud voices, and then go back in again?
The sound carries in the middle of the night, and everyone has windows open.

WHY DON'T YOUNG PEOPLE THINK ABOUT OTHERS?

Or oatmeal.

Some people use beremeal (barley flour) and some people use self-raising flour. I think that means you just use what you have!

You can butter them again if eaten cool of course

champit tatties (mashed spuds), salted and buttered, natch!
floor (plain flour)

knead enough flour into the tatties to make a pliable dough

slap dollops on a griddle and cook till done, turning once

Or you can go the posh route and roll it and cut into triangles or other shapes.

Great hot with bacon.

Great cold.

Just great

As my daughter-in-law would say...... "I know it!"
