Up early for another willow weaving day. Hoping to make a little willow bark basket for my granddaughter to carry at the wedding. smile

OK all you scottish GNetters ...how would I make potato scones? [want to learn] emoticon

soop Sat 26-May-12 17:37:56

Butter There now, you needn't have gone to so much trouble with the wedding food. Haggis, neaps and tatties, served by a gang of willing young helpers [Bags daughter at the helm] would have been great fun...grin

Bags Sat 26-May-12 17:15:49

Right-oh! They're washing-up at the moment. I'm keeping out of the way! grin

Can you fly DD3 and a couple of her mates in for the clean-up brigade next week B - packing some potatoes scones too - they sound delicious.

soop Sat 26-May-12 16:53:28

grin

Bags Sat 26-May-12 16:28:47

Mmmm, good thinking, elegran. I'll take some rashers along.

Bags Sat 26-May-12 16:22:37

It wasn't their rubbish; they were cleaning up the environment where other slobs had chucked stuff.

Bags Sat 26-May-12 16:21:26

Today they brought back two bags of drinks cans and other detritus they'd found under a rope tree on the lane where they play, and asked me which bins to put stuff in. They're learning! smile

Elegran Sat 26-May-12 16:18:22

Great hot with bacon.

Bags Sat 26-May-12 16:15:01

A very Scottish delicacy, jacey! grin

Jacey Sat 26-May-12 15:55:15

I've obviously been missing out on one of life's pleasures? Potato scones???

Jacey Sat 26-May-12 15:53:00

You're making me hungry Bags!!

Yes 'playing' with food sets up skills for life!! smile
Hope they tidy up ...thinking about your recent post on rubbish shock

Annobel Sat 26-May-12 15:52:13

Oh, Bags, potato scones - will they save one for me? Could I stop at one?

Bags Sat 26-May-12 15:49:05

Yes, there's nothing like doing stuff with food for learning how it all works, is there? Besides, kids love cooking. We're doing some Scottish recipes with Cubs at the mo. They all love it. So far the Scotch pancakes they produced two weeks ago and shortbread this week have been excellent. Potato scones next week....

Annobel Sat 26-May-12 15:40:00

Yes, I'm sure he enjoyed it!
Bags, there was nothing my GD liked better than messing about in the kitchen when she was that age and usually ended up with something almost edible. She now makes birthday cakes for her student mates and did a spectacular one for her brother this month!

Butternut Sat 26-May-12 15:39:23

smile

Bags Sat 26-May-12 15:34:54

Sounds very good to me, anno. Hope he enjoyed his swim!

Just been "setting up" the kitchen for biscuit decorating by one ten year old and one eleven year old. Have now left them alone with a supply of icing sugar and bits and bobs. Probably not wise, but..... smile

Butternut Sat 26-May-12 15:32:28

Not bad indeed, Anno! Congratulations.

Annobel Sat 26-May-12 15:15:26

Well DS made it in under half an hour - a slight improvement on last year. Not bad!

kittylester Sat 26-May-12 14:06:19

Go Annobel's son - reallly well done!

Mr Lester may wear a t-shirt as we are only going to the party to celebrate the wedding, the theory being a NICE tshirt under his cream silk/linen jacket - not a blinking sludge coloured olympic one. He has seen sense! [mightily relieved emoticon]

Annobel Sat 26-May-12 13:29:30

Waiting to hear how he got on. He is an enthusiastic, mile a day, swimmer in middle age - I did try to encourage him as a kid - could see his potential - but was he interested then? Huh!

whenim64 Sat 26-May-12 12:58:49

Annobel what a great ambition your son has smile

soop Sat 26-May-12 12:40:18

Annobel ...well done to your son.

Ella46 Sat 26-May-12 11:25:08

Cheering him on Annobel [sunshine]

jeni Sat 26-May-12 11:16:27

Good luck to himsmile
