gally there are some basic plans for an ark in a book called the Bible, I haven't seen much gopher wood around in England though.

Grannybug Wed 27-Jun-12 16:23:04

Today I am mostly wondering if I really want to do some paid work now I have retired. Hmmm!

Annobel Wed 27-Jun-12 16:20:18

My friend was due to arrive at midday to pick me up to go to lunch. Much to my surprise, she arrived while I was in the middle of cleaning the bathroom, at 11.20, apologising for being late. She had managed to mis-read her watch! I wasn't reluctant to abandon the bathroom, so we had a brew, went for lunch and came back here for another brew. Now I'm watching Wimbledon and pretending that I don't live in a jungle of sticky weed and horse tail.

Gally Wed 27-Jun-12 16:12:55

Been contemplating constructing an Ark. The rain is coming down in torrents and not even bothering with the gutters or downpipes grin.
This morning I had a very welcome visit from Greenmoss and her friend and we all had a lazy lunch in the local pub before wandering round the village craft shops smile
I am now back to the Big Tidy-up; why is it that things have to get worse before they get better when cleaning??

GoldenGran Wed 27-Jun-12 09:49:53

Bags great news, it looks like there will be a little clutch of new GC for a few GNers in the New Year. sunshine I have been putting the washing out and taking it in again as I watch a big black cloud hover over the garden. Am off to Pilates soon and am then going to visit my Step mother in her convalescent home, she has been away from her flat, mostly in hospital, for 9weeks and may never go back to it.which is making her very sad and fretful.

ella46 enjoy your break I love Abersoch envy we spent many a happy time there when the children where younger we used to camp near the Warren,we many a time had a rather "damp" holiday but it made it more of an adventure when the DCs where small.
This am I have put out the washing and made the famous Lemon Drizzle cake,I am planning a small tea-party for the neighbours this week-end as the weather has been so bad and we hope to have a "bit of a do" on Saturday to brighten up the spirits as a few don't have visitors and a get together keeps their pecker up a wee bit,am off to the charity shop for the morning now and will be back home about 4pm.smile

Just returned from polishing silver friend's. Tomorrow it will be brass. Then servicing her friend's holiday apartment. Mr soop finished her ironing. Fed her flock of wild birds, hens and ducks. Now it's coffee time and Wimbles! grin

Oldgreymare Tue 26-Jun-12 08:31:56

Up early, ironing done, packing next, spending a few days in Wales, including watching the red kites being fed. Forecast not too good , been advised to take wellies.
Small matter of a few pints of gooseberry juice to make into jelly! Sooooo why am I still here (see addiction thread!)

Ella46 Mon 25-Jun-12 20:56:43

jacey I go to Abersoch or (this time) Llanbedrog. A friend has a house and my dd has a place on the Warren. Been going for 25 years and it feels like home smile

Late afternoon picking session at the allottment so a couple of lbs (still use the old imperial measures even tho' I taught cms, kilos etc!) of strawberries to deal with AND another 10 lbs of gooseberries, the latter destined to make jelly.

Ella46 Mon 25-Jun-12 18:39:46

Hi Gally flowers
Got back this afternoon from my weekend in Wales,it only rained on Saturday night and it was fine and warm! Had a lovely ,relaxing time and superb food.
Am now at least half a stone heavier than on Friday!
Huge freshly made scones with jam and cream, so good we had them for breakfast before we drove home blush [very chubby emoticon]

nanaej Mon 25-Jun-12 18:26:26

Just 15 /20 minute drive away.. always lots to see.. good meeting place !!

Butternut Mon 25-Jun-12 18:11:31

Ooh, ej - RHS Wisley used to be an old haunt of mine. Many happy days spent there. I was seconded from Gilbert White's garden where I worked in my 'spare' time - (inbetween working!)

nanaej Mon 25-Jun-12 18:08:24

Enjoyed an afternoon in the sun at RHS Wisley Gardens which were looking spectacular despite the weather not following expected patterns! Dreaming of what I will plant in the Autumn and realising, too late, that I should have been taking loads of cuttings from friends gardens and potting stuff in anticipation of garden being in a state to recieve plants!

Anagram Mon 25-Jun-12 17:23:09

Ooh, how lovely, Bags! smile

Bags Mon 25-Jun-12 17:19:22

Gally lovely to have you back. flowers
Ariadne ...sounds fun. Yesterday was a truly happy day for me. I made some real progress with Pepper's portrait. grin

Ariadne Sun 24-Jun-12 17:49:26

Oh, the garden party went ahead and I have just got home. Lovely, lovely afternoon - perfect English setting, totally diverse community, Sri Lankan food (e.g.cashew curry) and a bottle of wine near me which seemed to go down quite fast. Kept nipping back under cover during small showers, while enjoying some great chat. That's Sunday sorted! Hic!

glammanana Sun 24-Jun-12 11:37:31

Good morning nice to see you back gally you have certainly not missed any good weather whilst you have been away.I had a day off GN yesterday as I received an emergency call from DD that Luke's kitten Poppy was not well at all and could I pop down and see her when I had finished at the Charity shop where I go on Saturday, when I arrived Pops came and sat as usual by my chair and proudly continued to produce 5 kittens in the space of 2 hours to everyone's surprise. She is so big and fluffy no one had noticed any differance in her and she is very much an indoor cat so she must have been naughty when she went missing for one afternoon ??? DD was shocked and went into midwife mode and has sat up all night with her making sure she is OK,so it looks as though we may be having an addition to our family soon.smile

whenim64 Sun 24-Jun-12 11:08:36

Hi Gally nice to have you back - hope you are safe and sound? sunshine

Annobel Sun 24-Jun-12 10:59:45

Welcome back, Gally. I'm glad you got a good break which you needed. Tooth OK? Hope you brought some sunshine back with you.

Greatnan Sun 24-Jun-12 10:27:01

Don't all jump on me - but I have spent the last three days walking in glorious sunshine!
I have had several long pm's from my eldest grand-daughter which have made me very happy.
I am very sympathetic towards all of you, and your families, who are feeling ill and in pain. Even if you don't have money worries, it is hard to stay bright-eyed and bushy tailed if you are not in good health.
