Up early for another willow weaving day. Hoping to make a little willow bark basket for my granddaughter to carry at the wedding. smile

Ella46 Mon 28-May-12 07:47:53

when that must have been a wonderful day for you all, I'm so pleased smile. It makes you feel like a real proper "nana" when the generations are together having fun.
My favourite baby was in the pool yesterday and then whizzing around in her walker, she is so bright for 7/8 months, delightful.

I'm off to Abersoch today so fingers crossed the weather stays, and I don't get caught up with the olympic flame in Pwllheli! sunshine

whenim64 Mon 28-May-12 07:53:35

I now understand the pleasure my grandmother got from just sitting and watching the family together. Make the most of your day chrissy as the weather forecast says it's all going to pot again after today grin

nanaej Mon 28-May-12 07:59:10

when Nameless baby's parents have both got a preferred name and are trying to persuade the other that their name is the better one for the baby! Meanwhile I am calling him Nige as a spur as I know neither like that name! Sorry to any Nigel's or Nigel lovers out there! Pics on profile though!

It's another glorious day here - got up very early this morning before anyone else was about and did something I have been trying to do for some time - just been waiting for the right moment - I took some of J's ashes down to the harbour and scattered them in the burn and watched them flow gently out between the boats, so I feel I have finally put some of him where he was always happiest - mucking about on boats! smile.
Have to make the best of today as the forecast is not so good for the rest of the week - winter woolies back on again sad

Clouds here today and a bit cooler..sun popping out every so often. Have to tidy the front pathway today and the adjacent hedge/flower beds so will be right weather for that I think!

whenim64 Mon 28-May-12 08:28:48

gally you chose a perfect moment and you'll have comforting memories of today flowers

This morning not so hot as yet just tidied the front garden area and brushed all the tiles so we are looking good,I have just spent an hour looking at wallpaper for a wall in the kitchen,I only need the one wall papered as all the rest will be painted only to find that no one has the colours that I want in a striped paper sad maybe I will go to Liverpool and browse in the smaller shops and see what is available.

Annobel Saint Delia has a recipe for gnocchi with four cheeses (Delicious but I cheated and bought the gnocchi ready made blush, I'm still promising to make my own but I bet our flour won't give the same results, or our potatoes for that matter!!!)
Did you go to the Opera in the amphitheatre?

Annobel Mon 28-May-12 09:57:05

I wish! But when we were there in October, the amphitheatre was being closed down for the winter. Another time, perhaps...

Oldgreymare Mon 28-May-12 10:02:29

It's a must. Once done, never forgotten!
Perhaps we should have gone to Florence in October, went in May to avoid the crowds, ho hum. But we did manage to see the amphitheatre in Fiesole with no more than about ten other people, bliss!

Annobel Mon 28-May-12 10:07:36

Venice was good in October - only small crowds and less smelly - so I'm told - than in summer. I didn't rain much but was very chilly. Liked Padua and the Scrovegni Chapel was just superb.

GoldenGran Mon 28-May-12 10:08:42

Getting back to normal after holiday. Only away two weeks, but what a difference, went away in winter and back in Summer. Had a good time, but a holiday on a boat with a ten month old baby, to say nothing about her worried mother, was quite hard work. The first week we had some long bumpy moments, so keeping the baby upright and safe and the Mother, SDIL, from panicking had its stressful moments. The last few days were lovely and we sailed smoothly back from Dartmouth via Weymouth and am now back in London finishing off laundry and finally putting those winter sweaters away! Gally my Dh is also happiest mucking about on boats, you must have some fond memories of those days smile I hope your predictions of winter woolies back on are wrong, mine are all packed away!

jeni Mon 28-May-12 10:27:14

gally your dh and mine would have got on famously then. Mine was sailing up to a fortnight before he died. He always said that only death or coma would keep a sailor from his boat!

GoldenGran Mon 28-May-12 10:30:50

Did you share his passion Jeni? I had never set foot on a boat until met DH 10 years ago, and now am more fairly enthusiastic, as long as weather is good- a fair weather sailor. But I love the fact that he loves it so much. He wants to be buried at sea!

jeni Mon 28-May-12 10:35:52

I'm the same as you. I scattered his ashes in Tor bay, just off berry head.
I learnt to dinghy sail at uni, met him at a hop. He asked me to crew for him the next day and I was first mate until he died! The kids used to call him captain daddy sir!

GoldenGran Mon 28-May-12 10:38:13

How lovely, he must have been a lovely man, I've never met a sailor I didn't like a lot.

jeni Mon 28-May-12 10:40:10

Nor me!
Well, all the nice girls, love a sailorgrin

Gally Mon 28-May-12 11:33:15

Jeni grin

nanaej Mon 28-May-12 11:41:23

I love boats and boat travel. Sadly DH is not a sailor nor even very fond of boats. He never learned to swim..think that has a lot to do with it!sad

I have probably ensured that we do not have any more sunshine been to John Lewis and bought table, chairs and parasol for the patio smile

greenmossgiel Mon 28-May-12 19:28:42

Gally, flowers. Been watching the weather forecast, and the weather is to be 'dull-ish' over the next couple of days and is to be lovely again on Thursday! smile
