Up early for another willow weaving day. Hoping to make a little willow bark basket for my granddaughter to carry at the wedding. smile

Hi Gally! Sounds lovely, apart from the legs! Hope the tooth subsided? Welcome back to the rain. (though it is really brightening up now)

greenmossgiel Sun 24-Jun-12 09:50:53

Gally, welcome home, and good to hear that you had a fine holiday - how's your tooth? smile

Gally Sun 24-Jun-12 09:14:36

Returned in the wee small hours from my week in Cyprus. Had a lovely restful, but very very hot time with my friend at her holiday house. Didn't do anything apart from swim, eat and drink. The only downside was being attacked by mozzies so my legs look like they're suffering from measles - even the antihistamines don't seem to be working. I now have to set too and catch up on GN, on Soop's article then prepare for my departure to the Antipodes in 2 weeks time. smile

Could somebody please stop the rain dance NOW!

Ariadne Sun 24-Jun-12 06:48:06

Garden party? Today? Probably not! The rain is beating down on the conservatory roof, and the sky is grey.

Such a pity - and all those school and church fetes being washed out.

Morning, all! smile

Making lots of phone calls (at request of her DH) to pass on details of funeral arrangements of our dear friend Pat who died on Tues.
Then went to Waitrose and bought some golden raisins to soak in gin as suggested.even if it doesn't help the arthritis it will add a kick to my fresh fruit salad.
Bought my copy of 'The Lady'.Very well done soop. You've put it so well.GN has been a great strength and support to me.
Sorry about your arthritis jeni A day in bed sounds good.A very hot bath helps me on bad days.
Tonight l plan to read more of 'The Lady' and catch up on the Simon Bolivar Venezualan orchestra recommended by Grandnorma

Have a good night all
Love and hugs wine

Sympathy for the aches and pains folks!
I went to Waddeson Manor with my lovely nieces. Good fun. So lucky to have 2 NHS jewels within easy reach (the other is Stowe).
Enjoyed the Christies modern scultpure exhib - well some of it. Am reassured by DN2 who just having completed 4 years on history of art, basically said - you either like things or you don't!
But top notch stuff - Kapur, Hurst, Gormley etc - Christies own purchases I think, juxtaposed with all the classical marbly stuff installed by Baron Rothschild. And the lovely trees.
The girls (22 and 32) now cuddled up under a blanket together laughing at Steve Martin. smile

have been enjoying a last minute get together with my brothers and their families today! How lovely. All cam here for lunch and my DDs and their kids came too. Just tidied away and have 5 mins before going out to the theatre!

jeni Sat 23-Jun-12 18:25:18

Sounds more erudite though.

Bags Sat 23-Jun-12 18:17:53

wink

Bags Sat 23-Jun-12 18:17:37

Though, as Mr B says, that's as long as saying shooting a bow confused

Anagram Sat 23-Jun-12 18:17:02

That'll give 'em even more to think about! grin

Bags Sat 23-Jun-12 18:15:59

toxophilising will do. Thanks, jeni

jeni Sat 23-Jun-12 18:12:33

Might it get confused with Pete's pistol though?

Anagram Sat 23-Jun-12 18:09:53

Just say shooting, Bags, and we'll know what you mean! And it'll give any lurking Market Researchers or phychologists something to think about....wink

Annobel Sat 23-Jun-12 18:08:25

Bags - isn't 'archery' the word you're looking for?

jeni Sat 23-Jun-12 18:06:00

Might stay in bed tomorrow!

jeni Sat 23-Jun-12 18:05:30

Sorry toxophilly

jeni Sat 23-Jun-12 18:05:00

Practising toxophility!

soop Sat 23-Jun-12 18:03:29

Bags your help was much appreciated. Sad that entire article was not published. Can't have everything we want. Hey ho!!!

Bags Sat 23-Jun-12 17:59:56

Hope you're feeling a bit better, jeni. Moan away if it helps!

soop certainly did a sooper job smile

I've been 'archering' this afternoon. I need a word that means shooting a bow. Why isn't there one? Why do I need three?

jeni Sat 23-Jun-12 17:55:08

Thanksanno it's a sooper article isn't it!

Annobel Sat 23-Jun-12 17:36:23

jeni ((((hugs)))). No shame in having a moan. What are we here for, after all?

I've been to Waitrose and picked up a copy of The Lady and read soop's article before I unpacked and put away my shopping. Lovely article, sums up what we are all about.

jeni Sat 23-Jun-12 17:27:10

Rotten day here as well. Arthritis so bad just sitting in my recliner! Even think twice about getting up to go to toilet, it's a walk of at least6yds but it seems like a mile!
Am reading a novel and
OccasionlLy dipping into GN.
Fortunately I cooked a chicken catchetore in the slw cooker overnight and made loaf to go with it, so I haven't got to cook today or tomorrow.

Feel a little better for that moan! I think.

Why I am I moaning? I'm very lucky really. I've a nice warm house, plenty of food and drink and all you lovely people on GN.
I should be ashamed of myselfblush

Ariadne Sat 23-Jun-12 17:10:08

I must stop moaning! We have a lovely life. And tomorrow we're going to our Sri Lankan friends' annual garden party - huge, beautiful English garden, amazing home cooked Sri Lankan/Asian food, lots of friends. And a little wine and more money for Rotary charities.

Himself has been for a bit of a walk and feels better.
