Today I've been mainly.........Vol. 5

Back home. Mission accomplished; have seen a lovely room in reasonable care home and she has agreed to go in for 2 weeks respite once discharged from hospital. Organised gardener to call on monday to cut grass and visited lawyer to invoke power of attorney. Ate 3 chocolate biscuits for lunch and for supper ate her yesterday's meal on wheels which I found in the fridge . Am feeling slightly jaded and have just poured myself a very large for medicinal purposes only of course. Really looking forward to a day of rest tomorrow - and possibly for the rest of my life

Gally please don't wear yourself out. I'm worried about you doing too much,too soon.

20C already on my balcony - I am going to Manchester on Monday where rain is forecast!
Before my daughters moved from Kent to Yorkshire, I used to drive up several times a year from near Perpignan to Calais,but I always stopped overnight around Dijon or Beaune. It turned the trip into a little mini-holiday as I had time for a walk round the town after dinner.
I try not to drive for more than four hours non-stop these days - I usually need to use the lavatory anyway so I find somewhere for a coffee
The motorway services in France serve surprisingly good food and coffee.

On top of everything else, my aged Aunt was admitted to hospital yesterday on the south coast, so this morning I am off on yet another 160 mile round trip (with overnight things) to see what's up with her and look at some care homes on her behalf...... I think my birthday weekend is doomed
Glass Annobel Bags I usually do the trip back to Fife in a one'r - on my own! I have 2 stops for about 15 minutes but this time I will certainly consider stopping over night somewhere if I feel too tired!

Morning everyone, nice and sunny here for a change, birds are all singing, and our 2 baby moorhens are exploring without Mum, they look like 2 fluffy black pingpong balls with HUGE feet. As we have 3 cats, plus neighbouring ones and Mr Fox, I just hope they survive.

Just been enjoying looking at Owl webcam from Suffolk Wildlife Trust - barnowls are so beautiful. We must have a nest fairly close, as I often see one in field beyond us. Trouble is, they can't hunt in wet weather well, so I hope weather improves for their sake too.

Well, I had a horrible week at work, but made up for by the fun on the 'trial?' thread.
I'm just going to watch the rest of time team, then I'm to bed.
Got an even worse week next week. I'm working 4 days! Why did I agree to that?

Citizens' Advice Bureau - some odd, some sad, some funny queries. Nowadays I am good at leaving my cases in the building. At one time they would prey on my mind. Now I am trying to make myself do some ironing because I have nothing to wear tomorrow when I'm going to Oxfordshire to stay with DS2 and family. Several months ago, one of their young cats went missing - not a sign of her and they thought that the worst had happened. However, after about 6 weeks, they had a phone call from someone who had seen one of my DiL's flyers with the cat's photo on it. And there she was! She had only a couple of days previously arrived in that person's garden, but was in surprisingly good shape. This was about 1km away from home, across at least one main road. A resourceful animal! And a happy ending - the GC were overjoyed.

I am hoping you are going to say you mean kilometres not miles. There are four hundred and six miles (653 kilometres) between Adelaide and Melbourne.

gally are you doing that drive on your own? Do you have a stop over as thats a long way. Sorry just concerned

I feel your frustration having to drive back Gally but your other trip, hopefully you are not doing it on your own. I often drive 478 kilometres between my daughter"s homes and that is really long enough for me. I find by the last hundred I am quite over it. Four hundred and fifty miles is seven hundred and twenty four kilometres, that is about an eight or nine hour drive.

Gally, you make me feel tired just thinking about all that driving. Have you got favourite stopping-off points? I haven't done much long distance driving for a while, but I often stopped en route and had forty winks in a service area car park!

Oh! too bad, gally! Take it easy sounds a bit trite, but you know what I mean. Have plenty of coffee stops on the way home (or whatever helps).

Today I left DD1 and drove 66 miles to DD1 only to find I've left the laptop plus phone charger sitting by the front door of DD1. I am soooooo mad with myself as I shall have to drive all the way back to pick it up. I am fed up with driving from a to b and on thursday I have to go all the way to c (home) which is 450 miles.

If I wore something like that, when, I think the whole wedding party would fall on their backs laughing! Anyway, will probably front it out, and just be naturally gorgeous!! .

You could be mysterious and chic butty. What about a beautiful hat with a slight whisper of net signalling there is a gorgeous woman concealing her charms??

...feeling washed out and tired. The closer the wedding gets, the larger my scar gets appears! . Can I wear sunglasses all day do you think?

Anyway, got my hands into the earth this afternoon and planted tomato plants , which left my hands smelling wonderfully of tomatoes and soil.
