Up early for another willow weaving day. Hoping to make a little willow bark basket for my granddaughter to carry at the wedding. smile

I'm sure it worked well then as now Greatnan.
Today I've had my first physio appointment after breaking my wrist quite spectacularly four weeks ago - the break was spectacular, I'm told but the fall was just a 'simple' trip while walking on the pavement. It is getting better very slowly but is still quite swollen and painful. So now I have a special glove to try and reduce the swelling, lots of exercises to do to get movement back in the fingers and hand. At some point I'll be able to drive and to quilt again but don't know when. Patience is definitely not my middle name but I will be doing the exercises religiously and trying to do more each day.

Greatnan Thu 10-May-12 15:44:03

I wish it had worked as well when I was teaching!

nightowl Thu 10-May-12 15:17:24

Done it!!! Thanks Greatnan that was just what I needed. Come to think of it I could do with you giving me a push more often, do you fancy a permanent position? Silly me, of course not, your life sounds much too exciting for that... smile and flowers

nightowl Thu 10-May-12 13:28:43

Oops sorry Greatnan you have caught me creeping over here again. I am well and truly caught out blush

I'm getting back there right now......won't come back till I've finished......

Greatnan Thu 10-May-12 13:14:53

JUST DO IT! Now, nightowl, I have shouted at you so I expect you to stop shilly-shallying. smile

nightowl Thu 10-May-12 13:08:01

I'm supposed to be writing a report for which the deadline has already been and gone but I keep sneaking back to GN for a peek. I am just avoiding the inevitable really, and I know I'd feel better if I just got it done sad

jeni Thu 10-May-12 12:26:33

Quite! It's now lunch break anyway!

Anagram Thu 10-May-12 11:27:45

Oh, I see! I bet they all think you're looking at some worthy work-related site, not gossiping on GN! grin

jeni Thu 10-May-12 11:21:51

The judge is playing with his iPhone iPad and MacBook air! So I'm wasting time on my iPad!

jeni Thu 10-May-12 11:20:24

No we're having a hiatus in the hearings! Ie the next claimant is late!

Anagram Thu 10-May-12 11:17:15

You're back from work early, jeni! grin

jeni Thu 10-May-12 11:06:45

Oh bliss soppygrin

harrigran Thu 10-May-12 10:57:18

Oh I don't know jeni A salon on your chest doesn't sound too bad. I have half a one when I go to the spa for a hot stone massage grin

jeni Thu 10-May-12 08:51:54

That should be savlon! Too early in the morning for me!

jeni Thu 10-May-12 08:47:29

That's ok then! People will put salon etc on then wonder why it becomes soggy and nasty!smile
Oh well. Off to work again. Thank heaven tomorrow is Friday!

Greatnan Thu 10-May-12 08:40:50

No, jeni, I am only putting on the antiseptic spray that the pharmacist gave me. It is not at all greasy and dries in seconds, so I can then put on the sterile gauze dressing. It seems to be working as the area of redness is shrinking. The dressing peeled off easily this morning and there is no more 'weeping'. I am not putting anything on until I am ready to go for my walk. I think I have good healing flesh, if there is really such a thing! My daughter in England suffers from keloids so the scar from her operation remains quite raised and bumpy. I don't think I will have much scarring, but it wouldn't really bother me if it happens. I don't wear anything low-cut any more.

jeni Thu 10-May-12 08:30:14

greatnan do not!repeat NOT, put cream on! Leave them open!

Gally Thu 10-May-12 07:40:32

Thanks everyone!
gracesmum - sounds a wonderful day - I shall be keeping my fingers x'd for a similar present this weekend but have a feeling it will be something less luxurious and more 'useful' ! wink
greatnan - ouch - hope all better soon

harrigran Wed 09-May-12 23:38:59

Will be thinking of you this weekend Gally and hope your family are going to spoil you flowers

Greatnan Wed 09-May-12 22:45:15

My upper chest, just below my neck, is more sore tonight. There are a few patches of bare flesh and the gauze dressing stuck to them. I have put more antiseptic lotion on, but I think I will leave them uncovered for a bit so they have a chance to dry completely.

jeni Wed 09-May-12 21:26:56

That's what I do on Cunard. Their spas are elemis! Bliss!

gracesmum Wed 09-May-12 21:00:43

I really can't complain - I have spent the whole day at Whittlebury Hall Spa near Towcester today! (birthday pressie from eldest DD) Got there at 9.15 and I started with an Elemis facial (45 mins) then lunch - a wonderful seafood buffet where I am afraid I ate far too much!) Then I had a reflexology session where I dozed off - heaven! And finally an Elemis frangipani body wrap which seemed to consist of being body brushed, then slathered in frangipani oil, wrapped in tinfoil (!) and left to relax under a duvet while I had a face and head massage. Then a quick shower and more unguents before I had to drag myself off the couch. I had a coffee to try to wake myself up and got home at 6!! In between treatments I relaxed with my Kindle but I could have napped in the relaxation room, used the "heat and ice" experience, or used the sauna, pool, steam rooms etc. Alas the day wasn't long enough.
I could seriously get used to this type of life!

Faye Wed 09-May-12 20:17:20

I can understand "Gally* it is hard to look after yourself when surrounded by grandchildren, especially all night. As much as you love them, they can wear you out! Best wishes for your birthday. flowers

Sounds as though you managed to rescue the marmalade after all Jess. wink

JessM Wed 09-May-12 20:09:24

BTW I found the little nylon net bag of boiled orange pips ... in the compost bag. hmm. Had a feeling I had done something jetlaggy with it.
Just invented a new drink for a cough (run out of lemons and lemsip)
One ginger teabag, dessertspoonful of home made marmalade, add hot water. Yummy, rather like grown up version of hot orange squash. You do not have to have an irritating cough to enjoy.
