Up early for another willow weaving day. Hoping to make a little willow bark basket for my granddaughter to carry at the wedding. smile

I cringe when people say that too! I usually say it's STILL my day!

Agreed about phones etc....I still use XP.....I like it.

soop Wed 20-Jun-12 11:26:59

Annobel Because some folk are led to believe that's what they need. "In my day" [cringe] everything was, I thought, pretty basic and perfectly user-friendly. hmm

Annobel Wed 20-Jun-12 10:27:21

I have bought a pair of new house phones and although I am far from being a technophobe, I am having difficulty in unscrambling the technicalities of setting them up! Why do they have to be all-singing, all-dancing?

Thanks, soop, jeni and when. Hope to get a bit more sleep tonight. DH is insisting Peggy sleeps with us 'just in case' so maybe not!

glass I've just been looking at your photos of the farmhouse you are renovating. I love it!! Our place is still work in progress but who cares?
Glad you've had a lovely day.

soop Tue 19-Jun-12 18:26:44

merlotgran What a shock for you and dear Peggy. I'm relieved to hear that she's responding to treatment. Bless SAGA! smile

Caring for a sick dog. Our two year old Jack Russell, Peggy, staggered into our bedroom at 3am whimpering and barely able to walk. It looked like some sort of paralysis but when we got her to the vet first thing this morning, the vet was mystified as to the cause. Poison was ruled out and as the poor dog had a very high temperature, it looked like meningitis. Fortunately, after injections of painkiller and antibiotic, Peggy started to improve. She is now almost back to normal - just very sleepy. The vet now thinks it could be a virus spread by foxes!!
Three cheers for SAGA....We insure our pets with them and when I phoned at 8.30am I got straight through to a real person without having to press any buttons. They were efficient and sympathetic but fortunately it looks like we won't have to make a claim.

Presenting the Creative Writing group's contribution to the U3A Jubilee meeting. First thing this morning, my co-organiser phoned to say she was ill and couldn't take part. So many writers were missing (ill and on holiday) that three of us had to cover six decades, reading their contributions as well as our own. Nevertheless, it was well received and we had a good meeting - our table won the quiz too.

Dipping in and out of Gransnet and forgetting that I've other more pressing things to do. I love it here grin Don't forget to read Friday's Lady mag. An appreciation of Gransnet and all those who make it super special [and totally addictive!]

Good morning we have watery sunshine today, I hope it stays like that as DGS2 and I are off to the Barnados Little Toddle dressed as a super hero her not me grin so please hold off until this afternoon!!!

Today is our 36th wedding Anniversary and we have not even bought cards for each other shock joint decision not to buy them yesterday. So 36 years ago today was the start of that glorious summer of 76 it poured on the Friday when I was dashing around with last minute preparations then woke on the Saturday morning with wall to wall sunshine. We went off abroad on honeymoon and came home to everyone with better tans than we had, you can imagine the comments!!!! Whats the chances of it happening this year.... slim I think.

Sunny here too. Been scything, hanging out washing, making bread, chuckling at the Asda delivery man's face as he scanned the mud ahead of him in our lane and decided to walk up the hill rather than drive up. Time to get the bread out in a minute. [lovelybreadysmellwaft]

I spent most of the morning in hospital and about five minutes of it having a gastroscopy (without sedative). No changes found since last time so all OK there. The hospital is handily placed for Sainsbury's so I was able to do a bit of shopping before catching the bus home. Just finished my lunch and my throat's not at all sore. Presently off to meet U3A writing group to rehearse out contribution to tomorrow's Jubilee meeting. And it's sunshine
