syberia I've just had a look at your latest photo of baby Violet - hasn't she come on a treat? She's absolutely scrumptious! Hope you're getting plenty of cuddles xx

syberia Mon 18-Jun-12 11:44:27

jeni well in that case, carry on reading the posts on GN till you think of something! smile

jeni Mon 18-Jun-12 11:41:45

But that's the trouble! I don't know what I want to do?

AlieOxon Mon 18-Jun-12 11:41:12

jeni, how annoying!
I've been waiting for my little gardener.....due 10....knowing that I will have to leave early to take my daughter to the doctor who wants to see her and says this painful back has gone on too lone - she got an appt at 2 which would have just fitted in IF he was on time at 10.

So at 20 to 11 I sent him a text to say, don't come because etc. - and I have been left in limbo trying to find something to do! So far I have had a sandwich and altered some pyjama trousers...what next.
Gransnet of course.

I AM NOT A HAPPY BUNNY!

pompa Mon 18-Jun-12 07:03:23

When I was chatting to his Dad, over the urinals, as one does (smile), his Dad said his son had just made some bad decisions in his life. But mulling this over later, I thought, had he not made those bad decisions, and had those experiences, he would not have turned out to become the man he has become, and he would not have 3 + 1 wonderful children. We never know what fate has in store. (Or am I just being sentimental)
I am also sure, that as they are still young, this family could grow yet. Xmas could get expensive for our friends.

Hello all, yesterday we had the most wonderful day that I just have to share it.
We went to the wedding of our friends Son. Both their children were adopted and their Son went badly off the rails in his teens, got into seriously drugs etc, moved into a squat up north with a girl, had 3 children, everything you would not wish went wrong. The mother walked out leaving him in a squat with 3 very young children. His older sister drove up north and virtually kidnapped them from the clutches of the social service who were going to take the children into care. He managed to persuade Social services that with support he could raise his children himself, which he did. He then had a chance meeting with an old school girl friend, who also had veered of the rails and had a son. That was 4 years ago, since then they have set up home, she has got a BA and is teaching, he is studying for his BA. They are a lovely couple with 4 wonderful children.
The icing on the cake was their wedding, it was a joyous day for so many reasons, we never thought we would see him pull his life around in such a spectacular way. Whilst I was waiting outside the church to take pictures of the bride arriving, his older son (8) said to me "I am waiting for my Mum, she is marrying my Dad", brought a lump to my throat.

The whole day was so uplifting.

Lovely, Ariadne smile

All here, then one gone! My lovely boys (41 and 43) have been helping DH shift stuff ie "stand there, Dad, we'll lift it. You just drive the van."

I have played with my two littlest GDs all day - amazing how rose petals and lavender = perfume in their minds. Both now in bed if not quite asleep. Cooked large meal, sent DS2 off home; DH gone to bed with knee and hip playing up and me and my baby (the 41 year old) watching - well he is - golf.

One more [ wine] then bed. Precious moments. I am so lucky. And so knackered. "Will you be up early, Nannie, like you usually are?" Maybe...

Nothing like a cuddle from grandmother to make a baby feel better. My little 7 month old grandaughters both have colds and have been cuddled up with me up whilst having a nap. On the mend now smile

kittylester Sat 16-Jun-12 19:05:02

I spent most of the day cuddling 5 month old grandson who has a dreadful cold. Poor Bertie! Bonus for Ma! smile

Annobel Sat 16-Jun-12 16:04:20

Frustrating day. Was going to make a foray to the garden centre when it started to chuck it down. When I made an expedition into the jungle garden, I found that the rain had bashed down most of my lovely but short-lived Siberian irises. I had to pick the survivors and put them in water where they won't last long but longer than they would last lying flat out on a concrete patio. Now I am watching the tennis from Queen's. It's refreshing to see none of the top players in the semi-finals.
