Duran Duran have been chosen to do the England bit of the Olympic concert.

What connection does Duran Duran have with athletics? Seems daft to me.

Annobel Mon 07-May-12 14:57:02

Perhaps Duran Duran was the only group they could find that wasn't already booked to go on tour!

crimson Mon 07-May-12 14:34:22

....oh, rush of blood to the head; why oh why are we not having Kaiser Chiefs; thoroughly English, brilliant live performers, lyrics a la Ray Davies at his best....don't rely on botox; simples smile

At least Daman Albarn seems to be contributing, although I'm not sure in what capacity. He, at least is someone to be proud of.

Faye Mon 07-May-12 10:33:41

Really, why? I would have thought someone such as Adele who is so popular and well known in the present! confused

We could do a sort of Riverdance, only with clogs instead confused....I'm sure the whole world would be overwhelmed by such brilliance.....

Grannylin Sun 06-May-12 21:50:49

Annobel Sun 06-May-12 21:49:34

jeni Sun 06-May-12 21:49:10

Just a thought?
Could they get the spinners again?
Some of our old fo
K music is super!

crimson Sun 06-May-12 21:43:15

Actually, the more I think about it the more the idea is growing on me. I've got a feeling that they bought out a new album a couple of years back which I intended to buy but didn't, and I do listen to their 'best of' cd sometimes. Save a Prayer is one of my favourite songs of all time. If they do a compilation type set it will go down really well.

granbunny Sun 06-May-12 21:27:15

an eighties band? is it a retrospective?

Ariadne Sun 06-May-12 21:15:03

I do know the name Duran Duran, but couldn't say what they look like or what they sang; do know Paolo Nutini as someone gave DH a CD some time ago. The rest? No.

So not really excited!

imjingl Sun 06-May-12 17:30:19

Suit yerself!

Anagram Sun 06-May-12 17:17:26

I wouldn't go that far....confused

imjingl Sun 06-May-12 17:12:01

Anagram Sun 06-May-12 17:09:37

Just seen a photo of Duran Duran 2012 in one of the Sunday papers, and I take back what I said, jingl! They don't look half bad! wink

imjingl Sat 05-May-12 18:53:34

Alright crimson. No need for you to join in. hmm wink grin

imjingl Sat 05-May-12 18:52:19

Ok then johanna. grin

Anagram Sat 05-May-12 18:51:24

Who? The Spice Girls? grin

crimson Sat 05-May-12 18:48:33

I know it was a long time ago but I'm sure they got booed off the stage in America years ago for being so rubbish.

johanna Sat 05-May-12 18:31:37

Did not mean to cause offense jingle .
My Hahahaha is mirthfully , never mockingly.

glammanana Fri 04-May-12 23:17:04

Anagram just thought I would stir things up a wee bit I'm a bit on the bored side to-day.grinTo be honest there is not one single group/singer that I would go out of my way to see playing at the opening ceremony.

imjingl Fri 04-May-12 23:08:00

Jacey Fri 04-May-12 23:03:17
