If the round bit/side of the moon fits into your curved RIGHT thumb and first finger, it's gRowing, or waxing. If it fits into your curved LEFT thumb and first finger, it's getting Little, or waning. (In the northern hemisphere.) I don't know what it's doing on the Turkish flag.
