Macca's doing the closing ceremony. Surely they won't have him at the opening as well. shock

definitely NOT David Beckham-he doesn't even live here anymore, and would open an envelope if there was any chance of a camera. Agree about Cliff and Macca as well-enough is enough.

you can have a ticket, nanaej. All grans welcome!

nanaej Wed 13-Jun-12 12:29:15

I'm wishing I had a ticket for this event now! grin I knew GNs would come up with a real spectacular.. seriously the giant puppets idea would have been brill...different athletes! Zara on warhorse etc gets 2 for 1 as well so economical.. a semi royal and an athlete!!

Roy Hattersley spitting into the crowd rounded off by a rendition of The Chicken Song.....grin

Ooh yes, royals as puppets. Massive Spitting Images puppets would be good, but can't see them getting away with that at an Olympics event x

Annobel Wed 13-Jun-12 11:49:43

So...massive puppets of the royals and maybe politicians shot from a cannon. Spectacular!

whenim64 Wed 13-Jun-12 11:37:47

Yes, the War Horse ones are amazing - a few of those would be so impressive in a ceremony.

crimson Wed 13-Jun-12 11:26:27

I'd like to have those massive puppets that I've seen in parades before, or War Horse ones.

crimson Wed 13-Jun-12 11:24:53

Are we talking about The Royals again?

Anagram Wed 13-Jun-12 10:53:44

Ha, ha! Or shoot them from a cannon...

whenim64 Wed 13-Jun-12 10:40:55

Let's have a massive spectacle, which should be as sensational as many pop concerts and light shows manage to do these days. When you think about the massive elephant Take That brought out in a recent show, multiply that by 10, with fireworks, a section by the bands and cavalry who are so good at trooping the colour, and if they've got to produce Macca and Sir Cliff, parachute them out of an aircraft so when they land they're too knackered to utter a note! grin

Anagram Wed 13-Jun-12 10:29:08

Please not Macca!

Annobel Wed 13-Jun-12 10:28:01

A brass band - but I think that might be in the pipeline already as Elgar's 'Nimrod' is on the programme.
And how can you have an English opening ceremony without Cliff? [tongue in cheek emoticon]

News about the opening ceremony slowly being revealed. Given that we have the Olympics in GB what would you do if you were in charge of the opening ceremony? confused
