Kate's clothes bill

How many women do you know by designer clothes? Gone are the days when she wore 'high street'. It's hardly workwear. She walks and smiles. She sits and smiles. She stands and smiles. She shakes hands and smiles. I don't call that work.

She can't win, really. She'd get critiscism if she look a frump . No wonder women in the public eye suffer from eating problems etc.

There is no reason for her to look a frump but let's get beyond the pretence that she shops in the high street. I fail to see the link between clothes and eating disorders. If you're considering Diana her bulimia was due to the situation in her marriage not to the fact she was a clothes horse.

I was relieved to read that some of the posters found Kate a little bit old fashioned. I liked her better as a student. Her formal dresses and outfits are getting more amd more outlandish due to her extreme thinness. I think continental royals especially Victoria of Sweden and Mary of Denmark are much better dressed - just smarter somehow. They have better designers, who design just for them not for Oxford Street.

The Royal Family are welcome to my taxpayer's contribution of less than 70p per year.

I'd rather my contribution was given to the homeless and they paid for themselves.

So Princess Catherine and her new close family 'do not work'? The fact is that they bring in millions and millions of £ to our economy and if that is not working, then I don't know what is. I recommend you read Diamond Queen by Andrew Marr - a former 'republican' convert; it's quite an eye opener and I believe should be compulsory reading.

She's a duchess not a princess. No they don't work. Tourists would come for our history regardless. I make my own decisions. I don't have to rely and Andrew Marr. Oh and who said anything about me being a republican lol.

I think one's preception of one's public image can be a contributary factor in anorexia and bulimia. I can understand your opinion, vampire [I'm not much of a Royalist] but I don't understand why you seem so angry with it. If Kate and her family were born with blue blood I could understand your anger, but she and her family have worked their way up, both financially and socially and are to be applauded imo. I do agree that the poor and homeless need help but sometimes people need to help themselves as well. A difficult balance sometimes. The person who makes me angry is Katie Price making thousands from articles about a load of rubbish..the latest one being her fake tan not working ...

I think Catherine is comes from a hard working family and she has done well, and I do believe she and Prince William do add value to our tourist trade , they are a good advert for Britain.

You know, I really couldn't give a toss what she wears. But I never have cared for the expense of them all.

I'm not angry I just don't see why we should pay for the clothes of a privileged young woman (not detracting from the work of her parents but she was privileged thanks to their success) who has married into an even more privileged family.

I wonder in what way Kate and William are a good advert for Britain? What aspect of Britishness do they promote? Why would seeing them in the media encourage a tourist to come to the UK?

Katie Price probably works equally as 'hard' as Katie Windsor and both have to look good in public to fulfil their roles. Katie P probably generates money /jobs too. Whether I personally think either of them are important or make a positive contribution to society is another matter!

No! She was NOT sent to Edinburgh! The University in question is ST ANREWS which isn't in Edinburgh and from which I graduated 50 years ago this month.

I wonder what she has personally achieved other than marry the son of the Prince of Wales.

Katie Price may not be a paragon of virtue but she has to work hard to keep herself in the limelight.

And just to add to the confusion, some of St Andrews University was in Dundee (Medical School, for instance) until there was a feud and Dundee struck out on its own. Edinburgh? What has that got to do with it? In my time, if you started a medical degree at St Andrews, you had to finish it in Manchester, but you could start and finish in Dundee. What larks!

Bags, one of my sisters started her medic course in St A and finished in Dundee; the other did her whole Social Science degree in Dundee, but as Dundee was then Queen's College, part of St Andrews University, they both have St Andrews degrees. Anyone confused?

It would be ironic if all this skinniness made her less likely to conceive. Get too thin and you stop ovulating. If I were queen I'd be wanting to fatten her up a bit.

Actually the Royal Family does work even if it seems they just go about opening things - look at H.M. The Queen having to shake hands with an ex-IRA criminal. She and some of her faamily work hard - there a few we could do without. However, how much a year do you think Michelle Obama spends a year on clothes. Each time there is a new President the wife will frequently re-decorate the White House to her taste. Jackie Kennedy spent a fortune. I would rather have our system of a Constitutional Monarchy then a Republic - with one man having enormous power.
I could quite easily spend 35K on clothes. What fun that would be.

I think she's actually Catherine Cambridge, not Catherine Windsor. She would also be Princess William, I think. It really is a load of old nonsense. The Queen's new protocol about who curtseys to whom and under what conditions shows up the lie about a modern monarchy.
