Happy to log on after a short break in London. I've missed you all. Have masses to catch up on. Will need to return later to tell you all about our trip. For all the pain of the journey down, it was a marvellous treat and we've returned with some sooper memories.

Thanks gally any sign of the new arrival, have the In laws reappeared?

Gally Tue 24-Jul-12 22:13:37

No and no - luckily for the 2nd no!! Perhaps today will be the day.........

glassortwo Tue 24-Jul-12 22:39:08

Baby will arrive in its own time I suppose, in laws or not smile

jeni Wed 25-Jul-12 08:34:01

My landing is covered in small (dead) bees?

glassortwo Wed 25-Jul-12 08:40:57

Have you got a hive somewhere jeni ?

whenim64 Wed 25-Jul-12 08:41:46

I had dead bees in my bathroom last year jeni. they came in via the ventilation brick and hovered around on the floor until they turned their toes up. Very odd!

JessM Wed 25-Jul-12 08:47:04

Well I hope the cleaner is due then Jeni! Maybe a nest of wild bees has been attacked by parasite bees or something? I had a bumble bee nest in a bird box last year and the colony disappeared suddenly. My forensic examination revealed that they had been obliterated by a wax moth, which made the most amazing tough silk mat thing, in which to rear its own brood.
Keep us posted gally ...
Oh *glass" I do sympathise - had one for weeks after easter, not like me. Frustrating ailment. But if viral, you just have to wait for it to go. (downward turn can indicate chest infection - in my case it indicated a second blooming virus...)
i have my GC coming tomorrow smile - for a long weekend before they fly out. sad
So i have a bit of work to finish, more food shopping to do and a long list of odd tasks that, if not done today, will be on hold until Tuesday. Glad they are not flying in next week, what with the threatened strike and all. At least in the Uk you don't go through immigration on the way out.

glassortwo Wed 25-Jul-12 08:51:42

Thanks jess. You are in for a fun weekend with the DGC smile

Bags Wed 25-Jul-12 11:41:17

We had a lot of live and dead bees around last year when a swarm took possession of an unused chimney. Once they had settled, they only used their chimney-top entrance. They even made some homey. We know this because some of it dripped into the fireplace below after their hive had gone kerflump (we presume in a soot fall) during the winter.

Might there be a hive in your loft, jeni? Or a blocked up fireplace?

The sun has got his hat on...hip hip, hip hooray!
Am about to upload last night's sunset - taken from my chair. Also, Mr soop and me - wearing Sloggis [unseen] and Tshirt - feeding mother deer [youngster in the long grass] at breakfast time, and one of our gorgeous wee man wearing mummy's dark glasses. Can never get images to appear in order, but will try. smile

soop Wed 25-Jul-12 12:25:57

Well I'll be jiggered! I've uploaded my pics in the right order. Cannot think why it's not usually this straight forward.

Ella46 Wed 25-Jul-12 12:58:12

Gorgeous pic of your wee man soop, he is delightful, and Mr soop looks pretty good in sloggis! grin

soop Wed 25-Jul-12 13:01:59

Ella ...Indeed. I was in fact wearing just my sloggis and tshirt and a pair of rubber boots. NOT a pretty sight. blush Had to leap outside to catch the deer before she had finished her fourth chopped apple. grin

Ella46 Wed 25-Jul-12 13:04:38

soop I'm sure the deer was very grateful that you had them on!! grin

soop Wed 25-Jul-12 13:17:21

It was a close thing, Ella because shortly after my visit to the fence, Pete, the postman, turned up with a parcel. What's more, the Sloggis were being worn inside out...the label scratches otherwise! blush

eGJ Wed 25-Jul-12 13:58:19

........meeting AlisonMA; it was good meeting face to face and we had a long coffee break in our local M&S cafe! Here's to the next time! brew

Bags Wed 25-Jul-12 14:13:36

soop, wink

Anagram Wed 25-Jul-12 14:16:20

The label on my Sloggis is on the outside!
confused

whenim64 Wed 25-Jul-12 14:18:07

That sounds lovely eGJ. We are starting to have a few Gransnetters meeting up. I met bags and Annobel a couple of weeks ago and now it looks like I will be meeting another Gransnetter next month. Happy days smile

soop Wed 25-Jul-12 14:24:56

Ana and the washing/size label is on the back, inside seam. Cut them out sometimes. Usually develops into a hole and looks awful scruffy.

Ella46 Wed 25-Jul-12 16:15:30

Why do they put such enormous, annoying labels inside clothes? Huge great white ones inside expensive, black garments! It makes me cross! angry

AlisonMA Wed 25-Jul-12 16:29:12

It was good to meet eGJ and I look forward to the next time. this was the first time I had met another GNer. Anyone else live in the Three Counties?

soop Wed 25-Jul-12 16:38:28

When we meet, should we wear a wee badge printed with both our real and 'pretend' names?

harrigran Wed 25-Jul-12 22:28:29

Good point soop

harrigran Thu 26-Jul-12 13:08:19

Today was supposed to see my kitchen finished at last. Just as well I didn't hold my breath, the fitter, again, damaged the cupboard. Instead of drilling a small hole for screw and hinge he drilled right through to the outside thus damaging the lacquered finish. A new cupboard will now have to come from Germany meaning an 8 week wait. The boss has been on the phone and we have again voiced our displeasure with John Lewis but the fitter is to blame and he must be costing them a fortune with his slapdash work.
