Happy to log on after a short break in London. I've missed you all. Have masses to catch up on. Will need to return later to tell you all about our trip. For all the pain of the journey down, it was a marvellous treat and we've returned with some sooper memories.

glass hope your cough improves soon - I had a corker of one back in the spring for about 4 weeks and eventully resorted to antiB's which did the trick - such a relief.

Ooh whales. You sometimes see them round there, but more usually turtles, dolphins and flying fish!

We are going to be very well behaved grannies ( who may run the odd gambling den on the side)

glassortwo Tue 24-Jul-12 20:49:45

You two will get yourselves talked about grin I bet you have a whale of a time!

jeni Tue 24-Jul-12 20:45:06

I spent a long time on the web this evening fighting BAs system to try to get seats together on the flights for maniac and myself! Most user unfriendly.
Well I didn't want her wandering around Rome airport on her own! Who knows who we'd end up sharing the cabin with? Probably some young Italian gigolo type!grin

Today has not been a good day, so when a salesman called just now and asked me how I was, I told him. The line went dead. If he didn't want to know, why did he ask? That did make me smile.

Very hot here, so I took the ski lift up to the summit of the ski slopes. It only goes as high as I usually walk, so I felt a bit lazy, but it took me two hours to walk back down again. I got some wonderful photos - what a pity I still can't get them on my profile. They are on my timeline on FB.
Not much makes me nervous, but my knees get a bit jellyish when the ski lift stops when I am about 50' above the ground and it starts to sway -I have seen too many disaster movies.

glassortwo Tue 24-Jul-12 16:28:02

Thanks everyone, I am still coughing but I think it has eased a little (I hope, they will evict me tonight).

grannya good to see you back smile

Mishap...well done! No sunshine hereabouts just now. Looks promising though. Continue to chill. smile

Mishap Tue 24-Jul-12 16:18:20

Today I have been doing.........just about nothing! The weather is wonderful so I have been sitting in the garden reading and crocheting a lace shawl for our expected 6th grandchild. I have a huge challenge to face on Saturday (conducting a rehearsal and performance for 250 singers) so I am husbanding my energy and chilling out!

soop Tue 24-Jul-12 16:11:54

number pussy cats never, ever do as they are told wink

numberplease Tue 24-Jul-12 16:03:37

I`ve just done a pile of washing by hand, this hot sun should dry it just fine. Then I put a load in the machine. Tried to get my poor over heated cat to sit under the dripping washing to cool off, but he didn`t want to, wonder why, lol?

greenmossgiel Tue 24-Jul-12 15:54:26

How's the cough, glass? Hot water with honey and lemon? That sometimes helps a bit. It's always worse when you lie in bed......poor lass! flowers

soop Tue 24-Jul-12 13:47:46

Today I have been ironing for two and a half hours for my friend who runs a guest house. Mr soop has spent the same amount of time on his hands and knees...rootling out weed and moss from her drive. Stepping through our door, I thought, ahh...perfect peace at last! smile

Grannybug Tue 24-Jul-12 12:00:39

Today I have been baking a hazlenut torte for our book club summer get together. Never made one before so hope it's ok.

Grannybug Tue 24-Jul-12 11:59:27

BN I do agree that our tastes change. I now like ice cream which I never did as a child or young person. Maybe they just make better ice-cream ?

grannyactivist Tue 24-Jul-12 11:21:44

Oh dear - Glass it sounds as if you have the same sort of cough as I had at the beginning of the year. I heard a radio programme this week about whooping cough and it got me wondering if that's actually what it was. Once I started coughing I just thought I'd cough myself to death!! I really do hope you feel better soon - try to get away from those pesky little ones and into the sunshine now and again. flowers (Incidentally, the WM left me for the spare room when I was really driving him - and myself - nuts with my coughing, I felt marginally better for knowing that I wasn't disturbing him so much; so if it's possible it might be worth considering one of you moving elsewhere.)

Anagram Tue 24-Jul-12 10:47:46

Oh, glass! Just what you didn't need....sad

Butternut Tue 24-Jul-12 10:46:57

I've just finished pickling and bottling beetroot from the garden.
I used to loath it as a kid, but now really enjoy it.
I wonder why tastes change.....?

glassortwo Tue 24-Jul-12 10:45:19

Everyone just scowled at me when I came down the stairs this morning so obviously I wasnt the only one it kept awake sad
