Happy to log on after a short break in London. I've missed you all. Have masses to catch up on. Will need to return later to tell you all about our trip. For all the pain of the journey down, it was a marvellous treat and we've returned with some sooper memories.

Nellie that must have hurt like hell, DH did it a year ot two ago and it took ages to heal.
I hate having to try and unfold the buggy whilst hanging on to a wriggling two year old ( who is the size of a 4 year old and heavy with it) When she looks at the buggy and goes rigid I tell her she can have a sweet if she jumps in quickly, bribery works every time. DS would be furious but I am not having tantrums in a car park or anywhere else for that matter. Thankfully she is good and does not pester for the whole packet.

Hooray, tried the bus again today and success - no tears! I talked grandson through the whole scenario several times, about how we would walk into town and then get on the bus to come home to Grannie's house. Constant reminders when on the bus, that in a few minutes we would get off - and after a slight hesitation and pouty lip he did get off the bus when it was time, with no tears and lots of praise. A small triumph to give me hope for the major trial ahead: mummy and daddy are going away on holiday and I'm planning on potty training him then. Our trip today was to buy his 'big boy' pants.
Littlenellie ouch! wine (for medicinal purposes)

Well done, grannyactivist, you've obviously mastered the art of toddler-taming! smile
Good luck with the potty training (you'll probably need it! wink).

Ella46 Wed 01-Aug-12 13:30:28

nellie how horrible for you! I think you should spend the rest of the week lolling in Lil's, giving orders to any who need discipline. That should get the expletives out!
I hope you're going to milk it for all it's worth? grin

Littlenellie Wed 01-Aug-12 17:14:32

I think I would rather have a squashed digit than potty train..respect grannyA I am taking my medicine now as OH is removing bedroom carpet. And clothing and anything that is in the bedroom so we can have the new carpet laid my DS and I are keeping out of the way, really don't know what assortment of clothes I will be wearing tomorrow,he is the most unorganised organiser I have ever met .

Nellie, I was suffering that pain with you!

Ariadne Wed 01-Aug-12 17:48:31

flowerfriend I promise that I will appreciate DH even more. Thank you. ((hugs))

flowerfriend Wed 01-Aug-12 21:34:37

I am obviously not very good at conveying how I feel. I am actually having a good day. Most days are good days. But, yes , I do miss the late Mr. Flower. We moved to this house twelve years ago and had ten very happy years of retirement together and during the past two years I have continued loving our house and missing him, but loving that I am here in the house that he loved and tweaked for our enjoyment.

Allyou GNs are now part of my new life. Thank you. And I really DO mean that I am glad you come on here andshare your lives and views.

Annobel Wed 01-Aug-12 21:57:13

nellie, your accident brought it all back (have had flattened fingers twice) and I feel slightly sick on your behalf. Take care. Treat yourself to a medicinal cupcake

flowerfriend Wed 01-Aug-12 22:16:55

nellie I hope the throbbing has stopped and that you are back to being a two-handed granny. If not at least I hope you get a good night's sleep with it.

I'm off to what I hope will be a good one as I am an hour ahead of most of you. And I don't mean an hour ahead of you on the G and Ts or vodka or the glassortwo.

flowerfriend Wed 01-Aug-12 22:17:51

Meant to finish with a polite goodnight.

jeni Wed 01-Aug-12 22:56:14

jeni Wed 01-Aug-12 23:14:05

Wish me luck for tomorrow! I have my triannual reassessment/reappraisal!
I always get stressed with them and the cases for tomorrow are very difficult ones! I'm appraised by both a judge and a doctor on my medical and legal knowledge of the my performance! It is scary!
Did any of you see the panorama programme on Monday?
We're the ones who decide if ATOS (or as some spell it TOSA) made the right decision!
I'd better get some sleep!

Night all!

GNHQ CRESCENT MOON?

Anagram Wed 01-Aug-12 23:15:18

Poor Nellie's thumb!!! Hope you can rest a bit - nasty shock.
Go! Gactivist - well done! Management and herding of 2 yr olds is a fine art.
You are a brave woman doing potty training but it's the easiest way if one person is concentrating on it . But he might be missing mum - in which case he might not want to play.
I was much involved in potty training GS - but he was just 3, and still not really ready, but nursery were insisting that he be out of nappies for the next term. So my only advice is - be prepared to admit defeat if he is not motivated or if he is not really noticing the bodily sensations.
I found with boys that the weeing bit is easier than no2. It is more fun.

jeni Thu 02-Aug-12 08:36:16

Thanks folks! Great start to the day! I've the runs! Not sure if it's nerves or something I've eaten? Have to stop at chemist for Imodium instants.

JessM Thu 02-Aug-12 08:39:20

Oh darn jeni - hope day goes well.

jeni Thu 02-Aug-12 08:45:50
