Happy to log on after a short break in London. I've missed you all. Have masses to catch up on. Will need to return later to tell you all about our trip. For all the pain of the journey down, it was a marvellous treat and we've returned with some sooper memories.

Went to see the Sand Racing on the beach at Kirkcaldy. Other 'arf loves motorbike racing and it hasn't been done here for over 40 years. So many families turned out for it, (and of course, there were lots of really quite nice, rough bikers....winkblush)!

My dd managed to trap dgds thumb in the car door! I don't know which of them was more upset! Panic calls to mum!
Nothing like trying to diagnose over the phone confused

Recovering from a full on week in which we have seen all our children and grandchildren! We left Devon yesterday morning, (having left the little girls with DD) heading for Hampshire to see DS1 and family. Hit the M5 and ground almost to a halt; as a result a 3 and a half hour journey took us 5 and a haf hours! And still 3 hours from home. So, to avoid a similar experience on the M25, we didn't leave DS until about 8, and got home at 11.00. Exhausted.

And, as ever, one does appreciate a little calm....wine

Good luck gracesmum. When I first read your post I thought you said 'put a plastic bag over his HEAD' which I thought was going a bit far!

As a treat, I've been on a bus with Hattie (aged freeandfreequartersnearlyfour) to the next village to see her aunt, cousin and the new basset puppy. Two stops and it cost £1.50 each way. The puppy got far to excited to see a new small person and bounced around with ears flapping. Hattie got upset and Bertie laughed his little head off! grin

Poor wee soul. And poor you too. We suffer for them, don't we?

JessM Sat 11-Aug-12 14:06:15

Poor little dab, as we would say in Wales. You are babysitting overnight? hmm
Good luck!!!!!!!!

...... awaiting 2 little men and their Mummy and Daddy - should have been here by now, but Little Man has pulled their hall table over on to himself shock(!) and has a hairline crack in his thumb. sad They are on their way back to their house from A&E but are still coming down - I am to keep him topped up with Calpol and Ibuprofen if necessary and put plastic bag over his hand at bath time!! His hand is strapped up and he is to go to the fracture clininc at Birmingham Children's Hospital on Monday.
Ouch! Poor little boy - when DH told me (DD rang while I was taking Grace to kennels) I was more upset than if it had happened to me - as you would all be! He's being a very brave little soldier - hope that lasts tonight!! hmm

Oh I know Curl Curl. The place to whale watch is the country park at the end of the Manly promontory. Nice walk for kids if weather ok - fenced clifftop area, lizards etc. Apparently you can get really close views.

Gally Fri 10-Aug-12 21:50:20

Jess just north of Manly in Curl Curl. The whale was in the rock pool at Newport. Have been keeping an eye open for whales travelling north but always miss them despite charging down to the beach with the gc's each time there's a sighting. green [sticky-out-tongue emoticon]!! D3 is staying in my house for 2 weeks so thankful that the sun is out and the beach is an option! I am clinging and hunkered...ghastly night - I daren't look out of the window this morning, there was so much banging and crashing. soop can't wait to see Charlie. He can be put on display in october along with Millie, for mutual admiration grin

greenmossgiel Fri 10-Aug-12 18:16:46

Stay clinging on to your Kindle, Gally! Fife is roasting, by the way....grin

soop Fri 10-Aug-12 17:42:30

number ...Yay! grin

JessM Fri 10-Aug-12 16:27:46

Gosh - are you in Manly Gally ? That is where my mob are based. I know you had been having big seas last week , washing up a dead Humpback whale into an ocean pool somewhere in northern beaches. Have you been out to the heads to see them?
I suppose this is winter, and the Southern Ocean not that far away, relatively.

numberplease Fri 10-Aug-12 16:06:52

Can we have a looksee after Gally`s seen it, please?

soop Fri 10-Aug-12 13:53:13

Gally stay hunkered! Collected the mounted painting of Charlie from art shop in Lochgilphead. I greeted it with a broad grin...

Gally Fri 10-Aug-12 09:46:23

New South Wales has been battered by storms for the last 24 hours - who would have thought it?hmm I thought the roof was going to blow off this afternoon, boats have been swept onto the beach in Manly, trees are down and power is intermittant so we have been hunkering down indoors in front of the woodburner. candles and torches at the ready and the gc's have cabin fever; unfortunately it's going on over the weekend..... I shall just have to download some more books onto my Kindle to keep me occupied.
