Happy to log on after a short break in London. I've missed you all. Have masses to catch up on. Will need to return later to tell you all about our trip. For all the pain of the journey down, it was a marvellous treat and we've returned with some sooper memories.

I drove to my dd's sailing club to see a rather grumpy dgd. It's their regatta this week and they're camping. Gave dgd my ipad2wifi and cellular 64g and told her she must let mummy play with it sometimes! Got a look of utter disdain!
As only 13month old children can!
Lots of my colleagues were interested in buying it from me, but dd said ' can I have it for M?'
What do you do?

Mamie Wed 08-Aug-12 19:06:52

In Paris - with daughter, son-in-law and grandaughters (the GDs first visit). We left at six to catch an early train, walked from the Eiffel Tower to the Arc de Triomphe, back down to the Seine for a boat trip and then back to the Montparnasse station for the train home.
All of it in 27 degrees. I am exhausted!

AlieOxon colonoscopy sad but computer smile.
Number car sad that's lots of dosh!

BT actually rang back about 20 minutes after I posted! And of course I had my mouth full of sandwich.
However my emails now work again. All he did was to open the a/c and give me a new password - apparently the stopping of the a/c is automatic if suspicious stuff is detected, and if it happens again (and I am not sure it has been stopped) I ring their free number but this time ask for the second level people.
So it is working again and I must email my sister to check on when she is free to take me for that colonoscopy.............yuk.

However, glad to hear that some of us are having good days - and hoping that others will also get their problems sorted soon! Good wishes to all.

We went for a walk along the Fife Coastal Path. The sun's been beating down on us all day sunshine. Meeting up with a friend tomorrow, and we're heading to Edinburgh to see some of the stuff that's going on in the streets for the Festival. smile

greenmossgiel Wed 08-Aug-12 17:55:47

Oh number - I'm really vexed for you. In the meantime, is there one of the family who can go and get Pepper?

soop Wed 08-Aug-12 17:45:01

number You poor love. Why do such things happen to those who least deserve it. A huge warm (hug) and flowers from Kintyre. x

Went out to buy some khaki thread from John Lewis, taking in Lidl, Lakeland, Waitrose and the garden centre en route. Guess which item I forgot to buy. Oh well, I will just have to put off altering those trousers. blush

For once, in the summer, a really good journey down here. The DGDs are seasoned travellers and giggled and chatted all the way, with only a couple of spats. Just left them at DDs, where the 8 year old is cuddled up to her gorgeous 16 year old cousin, gazing at her in adoration. 6 year old is out with the dog and her big boy (14) cousin. My cup runneth over. Honest!

Annobel Wed 08-Aug-12 17:10:51

Put your feet up, Alie. I hope you get your email problem sorted out, but don't risk your health doing it. smile

AlieOxon Wed 08-Aug-12 16:52:29

Woke up after 4 hours sleep, as I was up dealing with the email problem (My account has now been blocked) at 1am....slept 2-6.
After breakfast, on computer and on gransnet trying to work out what happened, and making a log file of what went on since about the middle of July....think I got caught by a phishing attempt -
then
Went down to Argos to get a cheap phone to put by the computer, as I knew I would need it to phone BT, and my other one gave up - and Sainsbury's for something for tea.
Fixed the phone up, and got my daughter to ring it to check - phoned BT.
(see the other thread in Tech if interested.)
Now waiting for BT to phone back with a (hopefully) more knowledgeable service person.................................

I have not enjoyed today.

Annobel Wed 08-Aug-12 16:50:56

number - what a disaster. You have my full sympathy. I'm a bit afraid to book my MOT after what it cost last year to get it through. I do hope they don't manage to find anything more wrong with yours.

numberplease Wed 08-Aug-12 16:02:21

Today, I`m worrying myself sick over the car. Yesterday the garage said it was done, but wasn`t performing to their liking, so they were having another look at it. Today they rang to say that they`ve found something else wrong, that`s going to cost................£600!!angry That`ll be over £1000 in less than a week, for a car that SEEMED fairly healthy when it went to them for a service last Friday! And we STILL can`t bring Pepper home. sad

Great to hear you had a lovely day GreatNan.

Did Yoga by the lake with friends then a picnic and a long swim afterwards. Great. This is Lake Neuchatel near me in Switzerland.

glitabo Wed 08-Aug-12 15:41:32

Today I went swimming at 9'clock. Then I went to lunch with a friend at 12'clock and then I had a mad dash to the hairdresser's for 2'clock. After that I went to the farm to get eggs and vegetables. I am now waiting for my granddaughter (6 years old) to come for tea and a play. I will take her home about half past 8. Then I will go to bed. Might watch some Olympics first though.

Greatnan Wed 08-Aug-12 15:03:49

My sister and I had a lovely long gossipy lunch with Annobel and when. Kath is very impressed by my Gransnet friends!
Library only allows me 30 mins on computer, so I will report back after the wedding next Saturday.

Varya Wed 08-Aug-12 14:51:24

Today I have collected paperwork from the solicitors office (nothing life-changing but he is retiring) Taken my dogs for a good walk in the forest, make lunch and dug up dandelions in the garden. Not particularly exotic but useful!

Oldgreymare Wed 08-Aug-12 09:18:52

... and from me eGJ an even more belated birthday ( too busy having eve of birthday miseries myself, I'm more cheerful now it has arrived!) I've tried and tried for last minute tickets but only found ones at £450 and £750... completely out of the question! Maybe I should consider the Paralympics.
Good news Ariadne, enjoy Devon.

greenmossgiel Wed 08-Aug-12 09:02:01

And me ecj! Hope you had a lovely day! And, Ariadne, that's great news! smile

Am enjoying an early cup of coffee while DH and two DGDs sleep on. Need to get everyone's packing done later - the DGDs arrived from three days at the Olympics and have bags and bags of stuff!

We are taking them down to DD in Devon today, (DDiL at Olypics until end of week) and going to see "our" house again to reacquaint ourselves with it. The vendors didn't have any more offers after our first sale fell through, so they are happy too.

Back on Friday via DS1 in Hampshire. But I have a microchip in the iPad now, so can pick up WiFi anywhere. Wheeeeeee! TechnoGran!

eGJ Tue 07-Aug-12 22:14:16

Thanks folks; forgot to say had a present of ticket for the Paralympics finals day in the company of both DDs; what a treat. Now really eyes are closing, Night all!

Ella46 Tue 07-Aug-12 22:07:44

Happy Birthday eGJ glad you enjoyed it. flowers
