I did the same with a Travel Lodge booking - I thought I was booking an hotel in the country and it turned out to be right in the heart of Hull. I explained that I was an old lady and I didn't understand the site and they gave me a full refund.

I think you have to throw yourselves on their mercy soop. Surely customer services will see this type of mistake happen frequently with online bookings? Good luck!

(The person who complained in Windsor didn't do an online booking - he just turned up there in the afternoon but would have presented his card when signing in).

I do sympathise - we have lost so much money over the years cancelling "non-refundable" bookings. Was it a £29 deal or a more expensive one? If the former, I'd say chalk it up to experience if the latter - is there no way you could use it/offer it to family/friends? You could try flinging yoourselves on therirmercy - poor old dear/confused and bewildered .com/poor health - nothing to lose!!

The trouble is, soop's already paid, so it would be a lot of faffing about to get a refund as well as keeping up the pretence! grin
Anyway, I'm sure soop and Mr soop are far too honest....

Can't you speak to them at the Premier Inn and explain the mistake so they can cancel it for you soop?

The other way (and I'm only describing this, not recommending it) is to go along on the second arranged date, then next morning sail up to the desk saying you've never been so appalled at the standards and you refuse to pay. I know someone who had the cheek to do this at a Premier Inn near Windsor, and they got away with it!

We've made a proper pig's ear of booking at Premier Inn [Carlisle] for one night going to see folks and one night coming back. We took advantage of booking on-line at special discount rate. Trouble is...the dates of our trip are one week later than bookings. We CANNOT cancel or change. We have therefore had to make fresh booking. Does anyone know how I could go about selling the reservations [at half the price we paid]...or do we accept and learn from our mistake? blush
