There was something on the news a minute ago. They'd been having a meal in a wee pub and left about 10pm. The landslide happened about 10 minutes later. The poor things. sad

Someone's head will be on the block , for not even bothering to check if the landslip had actually trapped anyone for 10 days.

So sad for the families..

OMG Oldgreymare , you for a moment would be forgiven for thinking "but for the grace" . Can"t understand why a more through search was not made initially .

Nonu I saw an item of news where someone said they had used heat-seeking apparatus but that the car was too deeply buried. I would have thought they could have tried those long 'sticks' used when avalanches occur.
My friends use that tunnel several times a week to visit their aged Mums, so I do feel ' but for the grace' where they are concerned!

Know what you mean and could not agree more , the sheer terror!

Suspect from the look of the car they were crushed instantly!
The long sticks wouldn't work in a mixture of rock earth etc:

Read in todays paper that the home of the lady killed in the landslide was broken into and items stolen . There are some really vile people about , how could it even enter their mind to do such a thing . I really am disgusted .

There was another landslide onto a beach in Dorset [I think] which buried a woman. The newspaper described how those with her tried desperately to dig her out but the rock fall was too heavy. She wasn't trying to climb the cliff or anything - just walking along the beach. Awful. One's a natural disaster and the other manmade. I wonder how often tunnels are actually checked.
