1960's toy pose dolls.

I don't remember them tattynan and I'm circa 1954. I do have a small collection of wooden dolls which I believe are Polish. They are quite distinctive having painted features and large flat feet. I too had a mother who threw things away or passed them on (without my say so) to other children.

I don't remember them. Were they expensive? I loved my Sindy.

My daughter had some little dolls (about 5 inches high) called Dolly Darlings, very collectable and pretty. Anyone remember those?

DD has two of her rag dolls both are called raggy aggie don't know why both the same name ? I don't remember the pose dolls though must be before my DD was born (1971) she was a collector of cabbage patch dolls and we still have 3 she also loved her Sindy dolls.

In our house when I was a child, there was a large baby type doll, known as the Celluloid doll, apparently she was precious, as we were never allowed to actually play with her, just hold her on the odd (maybe couple of times a year) occasions that she was brought out.

The pose dolls were more ornamental that for playing with. They came on a stand so you could have them on display. My cousins got them first and I really liked them so my Dad got me one as a surprise. They were a bit of a fad like trolls were. I was about 5 so that means they were on sale about 1964.

I don't remember them at all but I do remember the Celluloid doll. My aunty still has it. We, too, were only allowed to hold it on special occassions.

I loved celluloid dolls . When the elastic for the arms went or a bit of celluloid got damaged, what fun it was to throw the bits on the fire where they promptly went WHOOSH! Good as fireworks any day.

The pose dolls were also known as stockinette big eyed dolls.If you google that you can see what they looked like.

I had what was euphemistically termed a 'teenage' doll in the early 60's. She had boobs and combable hair; I suppose she was a precursor of Sindy or Barbie but I never graduated to either of them as I was pushed off to boarding school where only teddys were allowed!
