Feeling down already! Now I have no hot water! Rang corgi who asked had I got heating? Today! With the sunshine! Then told me someone would call round in the next24hours?
I'm at work tomorrow? This is one of those times when I really wish my OH was still alive.
Also Cunard have now cancelled Asdod for security reasons and are spending 2 nights in Haifa instead! This means I'm trying to organise an overnight hotel in Jerusalem for maniac and myself.
I really feel very useless, helpless and incompetent , I usually manage ok but everything seems to be going wrong at once. The last straw is that a lovely dress I ordered from East is too small!angry

My Mum was never well. Place never really tidy, with five kids around too. Dad said to intending visitors. " you're very welcome, but take us as you find us!"
I like a "lived in" feel, as long as it's clean!!

Two big soft cats!

Anagram Sun 29-Jul-12 22:22:35

How awful! Where did they come from? shock

Annobel Sun 29-Jul-12 22:17:28

Talking of fleas - yesterday when DS1 and family, and I, got back to Sandhurst, the house was full of fleas, though the cats appeared to be clear, and 'bombs' had to be bought and set off, meaning that I had to sit in the garden in the sun for two hours before I could get into the house. What a hardship! By bedtime the house was declared a flea-free zone. Luckily insects don't like me.

Night jeni

Grannylin Sun 29-Jul-12 21:47:15

Never heard of the candle one glass only the wet soap in the bed!Have a horrible suspicion what the result might be. DD1 has been home for the weekend and I caught her with the dog on the bed in the morning(not allowed upstairs). Was very annoyed as the dog often sleeps with the cat .She whined "But he loves me"....and she's 33!

jeni Sun 29-Jul-12 21:46:58

I hope!

glassortwo Sun 29-Jul-12 21:40:00

kittylester Sun 29-Jul-12 21:09:49

It's s*d's law, isn't it? flowers

I visited my Mum yesterday who, on being shown my vast number of gnat bites, said in a very loud voice, heard by everyone in her Home, 'Are you sure it's not fleas?' blush

glassortwo Sun 29-Jul-12 20:31:34

grannylin use the old fashioned test put a saucer with a lighted candle filled with water and leave on the floor, if there are a few they will all jump for the lighted candle then drown grin it may have been just the advance party. If you have a problem break open the gin tonight get drunk then tomorrow head down to the shops and have a quick go over the edges of your carpets with some fleas treatment. grin

jeni Sun 29-Jul-12 20:15:19

I would breed the fleas and put them in their bed! But I have an evil mind!

Grannylin Sun 29-Jul-12 19:41:31

Good plan graces. They are coming in their clean camper van and I have a feeling that they will opt to sleep there in case they are allergic to the dog!

gracesmum Sun 29-Jul-12 19:35:48

You might be reprieved futther visits though! You have my sympathy, why do these visitations cause us so much grief - we are grown up people and visitore must take us as they find us. Keep a bottle of gin in unlikely places and have a quick tipple whenever it gets a bit much. Alternatively, get her so tiddly she doesn't notice! Good luck thoughwine

Grannylin Sun 29-Jul-12 19:30:45

this is the final straw!..........I don't know whether I am coming or going at the moment. My sister is coming to stay for a couple of nights this week and my OH and I have spent a lot of this weekend getting ready for the royal visit. The problem is we are like chalk and cheese, she is very tidy and organised and I am just slightly laid back!I live in an old farmhouse with cats and dogs. She lives in a pristine estate house-am not criticising this, just painting the picture. She lives 400 miles away and rarely visits but will take the cross channel ferry 7 miles from us and not call in!I suspect her DH has OCD about cleanliness and this may be why they don't like to stay with us.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, after all the mopping and vacuuming, I have just had a FLEA land on me (pesky cats). She will go bonkers!

Anagram Sun 29-Jul-12 19:09:49

See - you're completely in charge again! Things are as they should be...

glassortwo Sun 29-Jul-12 19:01:26
