What's the most romantic thing

When we were trying to bring up two sons , pay bills etc; with only DH working I woke up one morning (Feb 14th) to find that that DH had gone to work, but I was a little upset as he had not left me a valentines card, but I went into the sitting room to open the blinds and on ours sons toy blackboard he had 'drawn' me a valentines picture of a heart and rose ! Money was so tight he had not got any spare to by a card , but this was far better

One year no2 gave me an Argos card that been collecting points from buying diesel from the garage for his work to buy something....it had £4.99'on it...he hated shopping and present buying and having to think about it.

Late DH was in hospital on my 50th birthday but pre-ordered very scented flowers arrived with the card merely saying From The Luckiest Husband in the World. Fifteen years later I still have the card. He was husband No.2. No.1 never ever took the trouble to buy me anything but would give me a cheque to buy something for myself. Usually quite a small cheque.

I would leave notes laying around ...but no3 is unfortunately dyslexic and couldn't read them.....E is too young to be of any assistance.....my son takes after his father No2 in the romance stakes......have given up now

I have 3 daughters who are very good at giving OH guidance about being romantic!

Husband no2 offered his proposal whilst urinating up a tree after walking home from a night out.....good job it was dark ...I didn't see how little he had to offer..

No1 came over very noble ,he was staying as a guest in our house and he fell out with my dad who in no uncertain terms told him to go and never darken his door again,I full of juliette spirit for him flared my nostrils and tossed my head as only a teenager can said " well if he goes. ..I go too" ...and he full of noble intention said well we cannot live together ...we will get married....so we run away and did...

no3 is allergic to marriage...so it is a topic not explored....and I don't think I want to go there again anyway,,,can't be bothered....

Snap! nellie. Ex didn't 'do' romance. His proposal was in terms of 'I'd like you to be the mother of my children.' Various BFs whom I rejected were a bit better, but, sadly, not for me!

mishap your admirer and mr mishap are they one of the same.....am deeply envious...what have I done wrong...

When I was a teenager, a letter dropped through our letterbox addressed to "The elder daughter" (that's me!) - it was from a boy who had apparently seen me going for the school bus every day and said he had fallen in love with me!! - ahh!

On our 40th anniversary my OH had a new wedding ring made for me. I hardly wore my original wedding ring as it was a wide 1970 ring and my finger used to go mouldy and itchy underneath it. I just wore a small plain curtain ring type one that we picked up cheaply second hand. I had always loved my daughter's wedding ring - a plain narrow round band with 6 tiny diamonds at intervals around it. My new ruby wedding ring was the same but with rubies - it had to be specially made, and one jeweler said it could not be done with rubies, but another set to and did it. I think that my daughter had quite a hand in all this really (she knew I liked her ring) - but it was still romantic - OH signed the cheque!!

I have always chosen men who are not in the least bit romantic,or sentimental,.....my dad was extremely undemonstrative and unromantic,so I think I saw that as normal,until I heard that men did do romance....it was too late.....can boast that in all of my 59 years I have never received a valentines card from anyone....

Ooooh you lucky ladies! The late Mr. G was not given to romanticism or surprises (despite me giving him a huge amount of clues) in any way shape or form but on my 50th birthday he booked a table for friends and our DD's at the Witchery in Edinburgh and when we arrived a hamper appeared out of the boot of the car with champagne and glasses and it was planned to drink it in the forecourt of Edinburgh Castle; sadly the security person wouldn't let us in so we sat on the steps outside between the Castle and restaurant, just next to the public toilets and drank it there before going into the restaurant At least he tried!

Mr.G although not the most romantic person you would meet has just picked me and dd up from a hen night for my best friend and says he would not let us go home in a taxi as we are the two of the most important people in his life.How lovely is he ?

Okay - the question was asked and answered. He admits he isn't very romantic, but says he's cool with it because he has other redeeming qualities. True.
Having raised the subject though he did spend a great deal of time today telling me how wonderful I look.

Hmm...........romance? Nope, can't think of anything really romantic, but will ask the Wonderful Man tomorrow if he remembers his most romantic gesture. Probably he's done something and I've forgotten, but if so maybe he needs to up his game a little.

My husband has just taken me to Wroxam railway station where we first met 59 years ago this summer. We were met by two friends who took us to the Swan Inn at Horning where we had our first meal together also 59 years ago. We then went to find the dance hall where we had our first dance only to find it is now a fish and chip shop.Happy memories, my husband is not given to romantic gestures so this outing was really special.

We got engaged on the 2nd chime of the 2nd hour of the 2nd half of the 2nd day of the 2nd month of the 2nd year we'd been together! We were on the steps at South Bank overlooking the Thames.

Years ago when we were young, for Valentine's Day, DH was mowing the lawn in preparation for a barbecue we were having later that day. When I looked up (from the kitchen sink!) he had mowed a giant heart into the back lawn. The most romantic thing though, was that he left it there for all the guests to ooh and aah over later .

Celebrated our 40 years last Saturday.
Nothing to do with OH now, but many years ago on the school run, I was waiting outside school in the car.
A huge Valentine's Card was delivered by taxi, and the signature was the numberplate of another car I used to see on the morning run....
It made my year.

For my 60th birthday DH took my entire family to a Lake District hotel for the weekend.

My late husband knew that I'd always wanted a 3 strand pearl necklace, I opened this package on his last Xmas and there it was! We both knew he was dying, it was his last gift to me! It's the most precious thing I possess (apart from dc and gd) (although I don't own them, do I ?)
