How judgmental are you?

We have had various threads where people have expressed their views quite forcefully about which newspaper others read blush, people who are supposed benefit-scroungers or have been to public school etc, etc, but how good are you at seeing people and situations from a non-prejudiced point of view?

My feeling is that we all (especially as we get older) have different preconceptions but, if we accept that we have them, we can then learn to ignore them or work round them.

What do you think?

Oh yes, POGS know what you mean exactly.

kittylester Fri 17-Aug-12 18:00:00

Yep! But I'd hate to come across as being sycophantic! wink

Anagram Fri 17-Aug-12 17:59:28

Yes....sigh...

I think I am becoming very judgmental over on another thread that is trying to make me judgmental.

Does that make sense to anybody else?

Greatnan, so pleased for you. How lucky to get such wonderful weather for the wedding. It sounds like a great trip and I hope for some great photos. sunshine

Good to have you back too, MargaretX. It is nice that the thread has become a welcome home party. grin

MargaretX Fri 17-Aug-12 16:07:18

ooops I thought this post was about being judgemental but seems to be a greatnan welcoming party. I'm sorry but I have been off GN from weeks and didn't know you had been away.
Good that you're back, my next vist to the UK (Yorkshire) is in September and I'm looking forward to it.

Yes, I certainly feel a lot more hopeful. My grand-daughter thinks her mum realises she is wrong but is finding it hard to lose face in front of the other three children by admitting it. I got so many hugs from all the family that I met and many, many old friends - I think they will last me until my next trip.
I am spending Christmas with my sister in Manchester, but I will be going over to Yorkshire to see my eldest grand-daughter and her fiance and their lovely little girls and - who knows? perhaps I will get to see her siblings.I am very proud of her for having the courage to tell her mum the truth and for being so loving to me. I know it has not been easy for her. She is starting an OU degree and is working part-time as a waitress in a local hotel. She says she has been inspired by the experiences of myself and her aunt as mature students who went on to have good careers in spite of having left school at the earliest opportunity. She wants her own daughters to have a good role model.

Thanks for the kind welcomes! I am in bed at Juragran's house using her Wifi for my laptop - she met me at Geneva airport tonight. The wedding was wonderful and the sun shone all day in Kent, then I had a lovely time in Yorkshire with my daughter from NZ and four of her six children, and my new grand-daughter-in-law, my other grand-daughter and her fiance and their two little girls. I finally managed to get a photo of me with all four of my great-grand-daughters. One of my estranged grandsons came round and we chatted for several hours about his sports and the problem of finding work in East Yorkshire but we avoided any mention of his mother. So, two down and two to go! I now have hope that my whole family will be restored to me. I spent several days with my sister and met up with her sons and grandsons too.
I have some great photos on my Facebook page, but I am still unable to post any photos on this site.
Normal service of jokes will be resumed tomorrow!

Boy do I feel better, I am not alone in feeling a bit dipsy with computers.
thanks all.

Very sorry Kitty to have gone off your very good and valid thread.

Ella, it happens to me and I'm a very fast typist! I don't understand it, because (as I've said before!) I can submit a post, see it there on the thread, and when I look later a couple of posts which weren't there before have appeared before my post!

Ella46 Thu 16-Aug-12 22:08:37

Can I just say (and maybe this applies to others too) that this is the first forum I have ever been on.
I'm still learning how to do things on my computer which makes me slower to post, and means I'm not as confident as some of you who may have been using computers at work for a long time.

I'm sure there are others like me, who by the time I have typed a post and edited it, discover that 2 or 3 others have nipped in before me!
