Gransnetters - what are they like?

I haven't been reading the posts very long but I'm beginning to form a mental image of the regular or standard Gransnetter. I'm sure a lot of posters would say there's no such thing but what do others think?

Gransnetters are mainly female. In my short experience, they are friendly, caring and polite. They can be down to earth, not rude but certainly not prudish. They discuss more or less anything although (as a bloke) I would hesitate to venture into some threads. I've mentioned elsewhere that I think this forum is a bit special. People rant but mainly in a good tempered way. This may be because it is mainly female.

That about sums us up, POGS! smile

I am glad to say 'A total mish mash'.

Some find talking about sex a no no. Others laugh about it.
Some you might think are a harridan, then they go and make you laugh.
Some you think are a bit nasty, then they say something kind.

I love to read Lils Bar,although I am not funny enough to join in. I really like those on that thread because they are enjoying themselves and letting us all laugh with them. smile

Also think how useful we are... anyone has a problem/query just ask and the answer will be forthcoming!

I wouldn't want to be without my daily GN "fix". Once upon a time I thought I was borderline "loopy" and now, thanks to some lovely members, I know for sure that I most certainly am. grin

Generally - great sunshine

As I said before, we are a caring bunch, whether or not we agree about politics or religion. When someone is in distress, we are there for her - occasionally him - sometimes with useful advice, most often with sympathy and a shoulder to cry on.

I know what I did with my time - I read books! You have all corrupted me.

gracesmum Wed 22-Aug-12 13:58:42

I think the question needs the intonation "Gransnetters, what are they like" - No answer needed!

Ella46 oh please don't mention dad's and shed's, my dad used to buy electric lawnmowers working or not (I can get them working you know?) says dad, after dad had passed away it took mr glamma weeks to find all the bits that made up the individual mowers and we ended up with 8,all for a rear garden the size of a postage stamp grin
I think all us GNers are young at heart up to date with whats going on in the world and a very big sympathic and knowledgeable ear to those who may have a problem,in all we are a very nice bunch.

Ella46 Wed 22-Aug-12 13:45:25

I think we're a very interesting, informative, amusing bunch. I don't know what I did with my time before Gnet hmm

I've just cleared out my very small shed and discovered ......I've turned into my dad! grin

absentgrana Wed 22-Aug-12 13:27:50

Not all members of Gransnet are, in fact, grandparents.

soop Wed 22-Aug-12 13:27:47

Damn it! Mis-typed again. hmm

soop Wed 22-Aug-12 13:25:36

janthea You soooooooooo right...grin

janthea Wed 22-Aug-12 13:23:57

Obviously we are all intelligent, beautiful (or handsome, if grandfathers), caring grandparents. Good tempered (?!?), tolerant(!?!) knowledgeable(!?!) people. At least, I am!!!! grin

Greatnan Wed 22-Aug-12 13:22:35

You have met me, Annobel - I am hardly a fashionista - I leave that to my sister.
Your visit is just an excuse, anyway, as I am dying to bag up all my too-large clothes and put them in a vacuum pack. I am not throwing them away - I put on over a pound when I was in England. If I break a leg and can't walk I am sure I will be back to 12 stone in weeks.

glammanana Wed 22-Aug-12 13:22:14

annobel I can confirm that DS1 made the crumpled look popular before the fashion mogals thought if it !!!

Annobel Wed 22-Aug-12 13:07:26

Oh don't mind me, Greatnan, I am quite used to living out of a suitcase in my DS's caravan! I tend to cultivate the 'rumpled' look though I wouldn't want you to be ashamed to be seen with me. grin

Greatnan Wed 22-Aug-12 13:05:10

I'm very good at cleaning out cupboards, attics, cellars, sheds and garages. Just give me a pair of Marigolds and watch me go! Ask my sister! And I don't charge - I really enjoy it. I am going to have fun this afternoon making room in my wardrobes for my guest's clothes.

soop Wed 22-Aug-12 13:04:04

Anno have you been sneakng storing some of your rubbish stuff in the cupboard under my sink? Why on earth do I need to store rusty brillo pads and odd socks and bits of string no longer than my little finger...confused

Annobel Wed 22-Aug-12 12:14:49

I think it's one of those self-explanatory words - a good scotticism.

effblinder Wed 22-Aug-12 11:40:29

"guddle" I love that word Annobel smile

Mamie Wed 22-Aug-12 11:38:19

There are a few obvious things like, we are all computer literate to some degree, we all have internet access, we have enough leisure time to post. I think most of us are grandparents, although I have noticed (IMO) that the discussions are less frequently focused on our grandchildren these days.

Annobel Wed 22-Aug-12 11:33:24

soop, respect! My kitchen cupboards are a right guddle! Especially the one under the sink. I am constantly astonished at the things I find under there. blush

soop Wed 22-Aug-12 11:30:54

Annobel smile

Sorry, Mr soop needs to fiddle with the printer, which means I've to move on from the computer and find housework to keep me jollified. Shall begin with sorting kitchen cupboards. I shall return...
