It sounds wonderful - yes, the French are not too bothered by elf 'n safety, or Food Standard Regulations!

I watched a magnificent display by the Ballet de Feu, held in a tiny village, in the middle of nowhere, lost in France. It reminded me strongly of a mini Cirque de Soleil extravaganza. For one superb scene, a dragon of fire rode across the sky, held aloft on long sticks, by puppeteers. They danced with fireworks - audacious (no health and safety!)but stunning. I cried because I loved it so and felt the wonder of a child.
Some nights are treasures.
