South East Meet-Up

Dear Ladies,
I think I will have to forgo the unique pleasure of meeting you at "The Do".
So many things happening in the Gramps household. and I'm a slow and sometimes sloppy eater.
I don't want to show myself up -- also can't find a posh enough Charity Shop that sells my size in corsets!
The mini skirt I tried on was VERY short and barely covered my credentials! Mrs. G is still laughing!!

Some elderly woman called the police and I was nearly booked on several charges. Disturbing the piece and idelicate behaviour being the only ones I remember!

You all get it sorted like, and 'ave a great time!

I'll look forward to hearing all the moans re. weight probs later!!

Ist of September? Where did summer go?

It looks as though Monday 15th October will be the best date for our meet-up in Guildford. I'll start a fresh thread so we can confirm planning and get excited!!

Just back from a few days away....I'll collate the information so far and get back with likely date/s over the weekend.

I may have to go away for a few days around 22 Sept, but don't know for sure yet.

I can't do the 16th October but could do the other ones

I could come on the October dates but I'm away until 27th Sept. I'll probably have to come by car from west Berks so details of car parking & costs would be useful.

Like yogagran, I have valued the anonymity of Gransnet. At the Google event involving Gransnet last year we just used our real names. I only identified one person as her strong views on a single topic clearly matched her Gransnet name. Even though I got to know several people, we never asked about our GN id.

Like Petallus I'm near Watford, also SE but obviously in the middle of nowhere for this exercise!

So we have a few potential dates for a Guildford meet-up......either 21st or 28th September......or 15th/16th October.

I can do any of those dates so if everyone else can add their views/preferences/alternatives, I'll try and narrow it down a bit.

Am off to Turkey (Istanbul) and Northern Cyprus on 5th October and back on 14th so could squeeze in a get together on 15/16th October!

We could potentially meet when you come back, but before yoga goes away on October 17th?

Or we could aim for a bit earlier than that.....how about either Friday 21st September or Friday 28th September? How would people feel about those dates?

I'm away from October 3rd till 6th then again later in the month on the 17th till the 22nd. Something the week starting October 8th would suit me fine.

I've been to the place at the top of the House of Fraser, it's good. We had a table for a school reunion that was a bit separate from the main tables. I think they wanted to keep us away from the quieter diners!

The west is meeting in Birmingham on 6 oct.easy to get to from Devon!

Think I'll have to wait for a West get together; if all goes well we're off to Devon 20th Spetember!!!

I'm retired too any date except 28th-29th Oct. suits me

bah, I'm in North Kent, but will be staying with DD in Camberley just down the road from Guildford but that's week begining 10th Sept.

This will take a bit longer to organise

As I've retired, I'm fairly flexible with days of the week.

Can we avoid Mondays & Thursdays as I work on those days? Also away from 5th October for a holiday... realise we will all have fixtures so hope we can find a date that meets all diaries!

The top floor of the House of Fraser Tea room is lovely..has views over the hills.. when we know numbers I could ask if they would reserve a table near a window. They are not cheap but would be less than The Angel. There are many other places like Cote and Loch Fyne & Jamies but was looking at easier to find venues!

Advantage of Post House is we could just sit in the lounge area if necessary whereas in a restaurant only may feel pressure to leave or keep ordering stuff!!

I will not have any costs getting there so happy to follow others' preferences.

So are we settled on Guildford then?

The Angel Posting House looks lovely nanaj, what do people feel about the price range for their menu? Perhaps a bit pricey on top of travel costs? I'm not sure.
