A senior moment.

This morning, I tried to use the debit card that I have used several times a week for two years and completely forgot the order of the digits. I even forgot the mnemonic that I use to remember it. Had I been using an ATM, I could probably have got it right the second time but I was in a shop. Luckily, I had enough cash to pay for my groceries, but the shopkeeper looked very suspicious.
This kind of thing is new to me - perhaps I have been upset by my memories of my daughter's horrific experience.

I don"t like the term senior moment , it"s almost as if people are proud of becoming forgetful . I liken my brain to a computor which has masses of things stored and the older one becomes more in the memory so takes a little longer to bring forward . But just me heyhowink

It is with relief that I have read your comments, thank you my brain has not only occasionally left its often packed up and emigrated.......I am now relieved and happier thank you ladies....<3

Bastille day?

Greatnan Tue 28-Aug-12 15:41:35

I always forget UK bank holidays and I couldn't understand yesterday why Doctors was not on TV. I also forget French bank holidays and was surprised when every shop was closed on 14th July.

jeni Hope you're feeling better today.Yesterday was a bit grim .I went on the short weekly 'Health walk' in drizzling rain.called at hardware shop on way home.Wondered why it was all locked up until someone reminded me it was Bank Holiday ! another senior moment.
It's fine and sunny today .My line of washing is 'Blowing in the wind' I love that song

That's wy I'm going chasing it! I'm fed up with this weather and so depressed I'm sitting here crying. sad doesn't describe it! That's supposed to affect one in the winter! Not now!

Isn't summer what they have in other countries - and, apparently this year, in the North of Scotland.

matson Mon 27-Aug-12 19:28:06

i will try annika, its usually those three days a year,( on a good year) when that big yellow warm thing in the sky is switched on! today not being one of those days, back door firmly shut all day to keep out wind and rain! and possible SNOW.

Annika Mon 27-Aug-12 19:22:06

matson Could you explain the word summer to me please wink

My DS1 and a friend who is staying with him arrived at my house and DS1 introduced his friend and friends's daughter to us all even though we had all spent the previous afternoon together. ME? HIS BROTHER AND HIS NIECE.

Staying with my family in Didcot for the weekend, I had a phone call from my neighbour late at night to let me know that I'd forgotten to lock the back door. I had to tell her where to find the spare key as she only had the front door one.

matson Mon 27-Aug-12 18:44:14

in the summer days i have the back door wedged open all day to air! last week i went to a neibouring town shopping, met up with a friend for lunch, returned home and found the door still open. i had just walked out and never even thought about locking up! scary. everything was luckily as i left it.[ SHOCK]

I have operated my Mum's bank account since her memory started to fail but I have forgotten her pin number so many times that I am embarrassed to ask for a new one yet again and just transfer the money into my account and withdraw it that way. Heaven help us when I forget my pin! confused

Ella46 Mon 27-Aug-12 10:53:42

Anagram Mon 27-Aug-12 10:50:54

Well, I don't think it's a senior moment, but this is the last thread I can see today - only eight of them up there, the rest of the page is blank! confused

absentgrana Mon 27-Aug-12 10:35:15

I have been known to key the burglar alarm code into the ATM and to try to key the phone number into the burglar alarm.

I think it was Enistein (sp?) who couldn't remember his times table. He said he didn't see the point of cluttering his mind with information he could look up!

Greatnan Mon 27-Aug-12 07:01:40

It is amazing, though, how often you know what somebody means when they say 'It was thingamy, from whatsit'.

harrigran Sun 26-Aug-12 23:14:26

DH is as bad as I am, he'll say to me " you know that chap on the telly, he was in that programme " No I don't but go on google and by a process of elimination we find the chap's name, by then we forget why we needed to know who he is confused

jeni Sun 26-Aug-12 22:45:47

annodomini Sun 26-Aug-12 22:41:41
