Thanks Greatnan - the bedsocks are just to get my feet roasting so that I can kick them off later!

Have a super holiday Mishap, relax and enjoy it sunshine

Greatnan Thu 30-Aug-12 20:35:41

Anno - you will have a Winter duvet and a patchwork quilt and the flat is completely carpeted - but bring your socks anyway!

annodomini Thu 30-Aug-12 20:00:44

I never go without bedsocks, Mishap. If I keep my feet warm, I can usually avoid having night cramps in my feet.

Mishap Thu 30-Aug-12 19:20:54

Perhaps I should pack some bedsocks!

It sounds as if you will be in Normandy or Brittany, Mishap, in which case I can report that the weather is still good, although a bit chillier in the early morning than it has been. Enjoy!

Ariadne Thu 30-Aug-12 18:21:23

Mishap because you deserve it!

Have a lovely holiday, Mishap. smile

I had a hysterectomy when I was working in Brussels and sailed back to Dover with a private cabin about a week after the operation. It made all the difference and it is well worth the expense.
Why do we grudge ourselves a bit of luxury when we have worked all our lives?

Have a nice one Mishap. sunshine

Alison - it is Parkinson's Disease.

Many thanks for good wishes.

Greatnan - we are travelling on the overnight ferry to cut down on driving and will only have about 45 minutes of driving (unless we manage to get lost!) to get to our gite. We have booked a comfortable cabin (as OH has bad nights) - expensive, but we go abroad so seldom (and we neither smoke nor drink - in fact we have absolutely no vices!! - hmmm!) that we thought we should make it as easy as we could despite the cost.

HildaW Thu 30-Aug-12 17:58:29

Bon Vacances Mishap, hope you and OH have a delightful time.

Greatnan Thu 30-Aug-12 17:50:41

Bon voyage - how far do you have to travel once you reach France?
It is very quiet here at the moment as we are between the walking and skiing seasons. I hope you have a lovely, relaxing holiday.

Have a good holiday Mishap I have no idea what PD is but it does sound like you are getting the support you need.

Butternut Thu 30-Aug-12 17:32:03

Hope you have a great holiday Mishap. When my son married here, his father-in-law, who has PD, stayed in a gite just down the lane from us. Apart from the stress of the wedding speech, he commented on feeling better generally, and put it down to a relaxing time in France. smile

Mishap Thu 30-Aug-12 17:25:28

Nearly finished packing for 2 week holiday in France with family and more! This is our first venture abroad since OH's diagnosis of PD so we have our fingers crossed! Everyone has been very helpful - gite owners are letting us in early so that we are not adrift for hours after getting off ferry, as traipsing round a town is not an option. DDs say they and friends will do the cooking and GC will come over from their gite with our croissants in the morning - so it all sounds good so far! We will reciprocate with some baby-sitting and vegetable peeling. Weather looks OK too.
