Yesterday while in the front garden, 2 young lads walked past. One was about 11 and the other about 9. They had a dog on a lead and were carrying a football and some golf clubs, looked like they'd been to the park. Further down the road the dog went on the verge and did a poo. My first thought was that they'd just walk on, whilst an older person would probably clear it up. But the older lad took a plastic bag out of his pocket and spent quite a while cleaning up the mess. Now there was no-one around and it would have been so easy to leave it. It cheered me up to think that they were doing it because it was the right thing to do and not because they had to. Just a little thing, but it did make me smile.smile

Very true. I was worried about a lone swan that used to swim close to the shore near Lochgilphead. It appeared to be lonely for several seasons. I contacted someone [can't remember who] and expressed my concerns. Well, not only did I receive a super wee badge and appreciative letter, but a mate was introduced to the lone bird...wasn't that a happy ending?

Mind you wouldn"t want to get near one , specially if babies around .

Nonu the convoy was just that...so straight and neatly spaced. Swans are beautiful creatures. smile

Bet that was a sight to behold. brew

We looked out the window and saw a convoy of swans gliding through the sea... led by an adolescent signet, followed by mother swan and three more signets. The cob swam alongside. The sight brought a big smile to our faces.

Happy for you, kitty I can picture the children marching to music. What's more, I adore Pimms. wine

Gally - lovely picture

Our Harriet (Hattie) came with me to see my Mum today, with her big brother and her Mummy (DD2) and made the visit an enjoyable one for a change. Mum is on her best behaviour when there are other people around.

The home had a 'Last Night of the Proms' with a local band and Pimms, on the lawns. The children marched around, were admired by everyone and we all had a super time. So I have a smile on my face.

Morris dancing put a smile on my face. I went to Sandbach, Cheshire about 4 miles from my home. they had a "Day of Dance and a farmers market.

The folk groups were dancing in the old cobbled square and by a lovely half timbered hotel. It was both mens and ladies Morris dancing groups and some excellent mens groups. Lots of skill, coordination and stamina needed its not for wimps. It was a lovely warm early autumn day, with lots of happy people enjoying the sunshine and the music.

It saddens me that these traditions are so often maligned in Britain, other countries are proud of their folk dancing traditions.

Seeing Harriet's gummy grin - she's now, unbelievably, 6 weeks old (I've just uploaded a photo of her). Sadly, I am leaving on wednesday for home and the next time I see her and her brothers and sister, she will probably be crawling, if not walking. I am making the most of every minute until I leave sad
