Yesterday while in the front garden, 2 young lads walked past. One was about 11 and the other about 9. They had a dog on a lead and were carrying a football and some golf clubs, looked like they'd been to the park. Further down the road the dog went on the verge and did a poo. My first thought was that they'd just walk on, whilst an older person would probably clear it up. But the older lad took a plastic bag out of his pocket and spent quite a while cleaning up the mess. Now there was no-one around and it would have been so easy to leave it. It cheered me up to think that they were doing it because it was the right thing to do and not because they had to. Just a little thing, but it did make me smile.
That's good, Zengran! Hope you're keeping well? I'm smiling today because one of my friends has asked me to go to the ballet (Swan Lake) with her in November at our local theatre. She's been given a pair of tickets by her husband for her birthday, so she could take a pal with her.
Also, there is another frog in our tiny pond....now we have rather a large one and a wee one, both peering out of the water! 
Ella...that big wet kiss and her scent in your nostrils...wonderful!

I'm still smiling after having my dgd (11 months) with me since 8.30 am. We've had a lovely day playing and now she's gone, leaving me with a big wet kiss and her scent in my nostrils
My litte grandaughters, 10 1/2 months old, have been introduced to my dog today. It was a great success. We did have to get their socks back off her, as she snaffled them when we put them on the coffee table, and she managed one quick slurp along Alice's leg when she saw an opportunity. The babies sqealed with delight each time she ventured near. Two more little friends to play with when they get bigger.

Today I picked Hattie, aged, nearly 4, up from nursery for the first time since the holidays ended. She squealed and said ' I've missed you, Ma'. That gave me a great big
melp1 I can picture the scene.
Thank you for your many lovely comments about our wee man. It does us good to hear how happy he is, in spite of his mummy and daddy being separated. Ever since the big change in his home-life routine, mummy and daddy have pulled together, for wee man's sake. I admire our daughter-in-law for her strength of character. She is such a super girl. LittleNellie ...mummy cut his hair. Yes, for a child of just two and a half, he does seem, in his own words, "all growed up"...
Jings Funny that you you should say that Rory reminds you of your adopted cat. When we lived in Cornwall, we had a beautiful black tom called Hamish. He died before we left for Scotland. On a cold winter day [snow on the ground] a skinny black cat, much like Hamie, wandered through our back garden. The sight of him made me go all misty. Anyway, he kept returning - and the rest is history. We love him to bits.

This afternoon I got home earlier than expected so took a cup of tea, a piece of banana cake and the crossword into the garden. The garden was alive with insects and butterflies (well 4 
) flitting and buzzing from plant to plant so I watched the garden rather than doing the crossword.
Tonight we are going to see Michael MacIntyre (sp?) so I expect that will put a smile on my face too.
Today is a good day.

Had 86 emails to wade through on being reconnected to the net. One was a photo of our wee man wearing his new pyjamas. I've uploaded it for you to see. Apparently he was so chuffed with them, he wanted to wear them for nursery school! He's also had a hair cut. Will be seeing him soon.
