What's put a smile on your face today?

Yesterday while in the front garden, 2 young lads walked past. One was about 11 and the other about 9. They had a dog on a lead and were carrying a football and some golf clubs, looked like they'd been to the park. Further down the road the dog went on the verge and did a poo. My first thought was that they'd just walk on, whilst an older person would probably clear it up. But the older lad took a plastic bag out of his pocket and spent quite a while cleaning up the mess. Now there was no-one around and it would have been so easy to leave it. It cheered me up to think that they were doing it because it was the right thing to do and not because they had to. Just a little thing, but it did make me smile.smile

Looking after my neighbours toddler this morning, whilst mum went to have her scan (expecting second one in December) - as my grand-children are in the UK, it's lovely to have a surrogate to play with and cuddle from time to time.

Seeing a photo of my two grandchildren, in the summer rain, in shorts and t-shirts, with wellies on, holding umbrellas, taken from a back view. Big smile

Coming back from my morning walk and hearing one of my friends, who is staying with us, singing and playing his guitar in the garden. sunshine

This morning I rang Seb (aged 5) to wish him luck in his new class only to be told, quite logically 'Don't worry Ma, I'm going into year 1 and one of my teeth has already felled out!' grin

whenim64 Wed 05-Sept-12 09:50:23

That sounds so funny. I'd love to see it grin

Just heard a re-run of Charlotte Green ''corpsing'' while reading the news. it was the classic time when she played the first ever recording which was of someone singing Au claire(?) de la Lune. Someone in the studio, apparently, said it sounded like a 'bee in a jar' and off she went. When Charlotte giggles it is so infectious , off I went. I'm still smiling. It is on Facebook but I don't know how to do a link.

My twin grandaughters are 10 months old now, and starting to babble at me when I walk in their house. They clap their hands repeatedly so I'll do nursery rhymes with them. I'm putty in their hands smile

My 4 year old twin grandsons started school today, and the photo of them larking about in their uniforms this morning, with massive school bags, is lovely. Putting it on my profile. They look too young, but they really are ready for school. Two lovely little live wires. grin

Have a good holiday you all.

We've arrived this afternoon at DD1's to return their dog who's been holidaying with us. Eldest DGD treated me with the biggest bestest hug ever. It was lovely as we don't see her too often.
