It doesn't take much to make me happy. What about you?

2 days ago my brown bin was delivered so now I can put all garden waste in that instead of bagging it up and taking it to the tip. Yesterday I had a great time doing -all- some of the jobs in the garden that I have been putting off. I was on a dead heading frenzy and a large unruly buddlia had a very severe hair cut.
The brown bin is nearly full but I have left enough room for the grass cuttings when DGS cuts the grass for me at the weekend.
I feel very good about this. It has just made one part of my life easier and made tidying the garden a more enjoyable experience.

Oh, I don't know, soop - I think 18 months is ideal. Plenty of time for planning, anticipating, dreaming.....but not so far ahead that it seems it'll never come! sunshine

Soo exciting for you soop, I think we should ask for a [fingers crossed] emoticon!

Ella...the best that I can say at this very early stage, is that we seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet. Next Fri we'll take drawings into planners to get initial feedback. Have dealt with them before. A decent bunch of guys. Will be arranging for a wee digger [driven by 'John the strimmer'] to help with percolation and drainage assessment. We're both so excited. However, cannot ever trust that there won't be a large fly in the ointment to scupper our hopes. Best bit, we've been good friends with the owners of the land since before we moved to Kintyre. We trust each other. Mr soop reckons it will be about 18 months from start to end of project. An AWFUL long time!

soop Does that mean you have agreed a figure and you can rest easy?

Littlenellie...your son does you proud...smile
Today, at eleven o'clock, we visited our friends from whom we hope to purchase the wee orchard plot. We had a happy hour chatting about percolation tests and the rest. At noon, the old clock chimed and our friend got out of her chair. I thought that it was time for us to leave, as she's a very busy lady. She went to the drinks cabinet, poured each of us a lovely wee dram, and settled back into her chair. One hour later, we left with big smiles on our faces. grin

Very interested to read comments about Norwich. I am Norfolk born and bred and of course its my favourite county. I love the big skies, the wonderful beaches, The Broads, the lonely roads, the quaint and quirky market towns, the National Trust properties, the old churches and museums.
I visit Norwich regulary, its a city of surprises !!!! Alley ways and pedestrian walk ways, ancient buildings, modern glass architecture, large covered market. Lots of pubs and coffee shops and the usual shops which you find anywhere, but lots you would not. Yes Nonu, we also had our wedding reception at the hotel opposite the Castle. Funnily enough it was called the Castle Hotel!!!! Gone now, to make way for shops. My Dad paid 25/= per head (but did include a 'champagne' reception-very posh!!!) and they rolled out a red carpet across the pavement for when you arrived.

Nonu Fri 07-Sept-12 12:15:24

How right you are , and the amazing thing is we thought it a bit on the expensive side . How things have changed eh !

Littlenellie Fri 07-Sept-12 12:09:37

Will have alook when I next visit nonu...wonder if I would get a meal for 10/6d, 52.5p wouldn't get a half portion of chips even.xx

Nonu Fri 07-Sept-12 11:57:59

Well I have been married 41 and half years !!!!!!!!!!!!! x

Nonu Fri 07-Sept-12 11:56:46

agree with it all Nellie , in fact there used to be an hotel opposite the Castle and that is where we had our wedding reception . Don"t laugh , I think it was 10/6d per head. grin

Littlenellie Fri 07-Sept-12 11:52:56

I mean 30 miles from the city .

Littlenellie Fri 07-Sept-12 11:52:02

hinonu as an incomer I do love Norfolk and am lucky enough to be only 30miles away from it so I can go if I need retail therapy, but I love all the little quirky old bits of the city and love to wander round and discover places
chaplefied and the castle mall remind me of lakeside in Essex..although not so many white stilettos grin

Nonu Fri 07-Sept-12 11:47:37

September sunshine makes me happy, I love the warm days, and the slight nippiness in the air in the morning. I also like it when I only get good news from my family, there has been lots of drama lately hmm

AlisonMA Fri 07-Sept-12 10:30:01

Oh yes granjura I love the birds who come to our balconies to feed. It always puts a smile on my face. For about a week this year we had a woodpecker but he has stopped coming now.

granjura Thu 06-Sept-12 21:07:33

Nuthatches everywhere - put some sunflower seeds on the bird feeder, and within minutes they were all over the place, with their piercing cries. Lovely. Birds, flowers, smiles, grand-children and my neighbour's little boy - small things are the best.

When something good happens to one of my family I am always ecstatic.

DH has had a great few days, yesterday was his birthday and we went to watch his team, Warwickshire, thrash my team, Worcestershire, at cricket. Then he decided he wanted gammon egg and chips for dinner and we went to see if one of our favourite restaurants could do it and they did. He said it was even better than expected. Today we went back to the cricket to watch the inevitable defeat of Worcesterhire and the awarding of the trophy for coming top of the league to Warwickshire. He is walking around with a big grin. Now we are going to watch The Importance of Being Ernest to end a very good week. We are both happy.

Nonu Thu 06-Sept-12 18:16:47

JO4 Thu 06-Sept-12 17:29:54
