What's the most "daring" thing you have ever done?

It was the "naturist" thread that got me thinking about this, and I don't mean "daring" as in bungee jumping/white water rafting/swimming with sharks kind of way!!

When exdh and I were "walking out", there was a day that I knew his parents were going to be out. I thought I would surprise him, so I went to his house on the bus, got off at the appropriate stop and walked the couple of hundred yards or so to his house.

He let me in and offered to take my coat. That was when he discovered that all I was wearing underneath was a set of black lingerie, complete with stockings and suspenders.

I had taken clothes with me in a bag for the journey home, but heaven knows what would have happened if the bus had crashed!

Not sharing my daring dos but I did have a skimpy little Mary Farrin top once. Completely forgotten the name until I read this thread.

I'm happy to report the side effects of drinking a full bottle of washing up liquid. From several orifaces I can produce bubbles.

I finally agreed to have a liver test done. The doctor said they were unable to detect any traces of a liver. Tomorrow I shall ask for a bacon and egg test.

Recently I was invited to a fancy dress night at the local bridge club. Dressed as a ventriloquist doll I spent the remainder of the evening as dummy.

Hi there, oldjohn smile You seem to have a fine sense of humour. Hope you enjoy Gransnet.

Thank you for saying it first, trishs. I also daredn't say what the most daring thing I did was. It was nothing like anything that's been mentioned so far. Nothing like.

Littlenellie Sat 08-Sept-12 09:04:29

With tears of terror pouring down my face I stepped around a huge boulder that had fallen onto the narrow mountain path I was on. There was only room for one foot at a time on the ledge and a sheer drop to the side. My husband was urging me on having already negotiated the obstacle and the alternative was to climb back down the mountain. Hugging that boulder and inching my way around it was the most daring thing I'd ever done! Even the memory of it makes me shiver still!

grannyact shock...I'm quivering, and I wasn't there.

DD1 is right with you ga. We took her up Liathach when she was nine (her first munro). There's a bit near the summit which involves a narrow path with steep wall of mountain above and steep fall below. She did it but burst into tears at the other end. We had a calming sit-down and descended the mountain a different way. I had a similar experience at the Sgurr nan Gillean ridge in The Cuillin, which is only a foot or so wide with steep drops either side. I wasn't brave. I just sat down and trembled. Enjoyed the scree run down though.

Elegran Sun 09-Sept-12 13:25:48

Bags A friend was persuaded by her husband to walk the Sgurr nan Gillean ridge. She coped fine until they met a party walking in the other direction - then she just sat down and covered her eyes while they negotiated round her.

Bags Sun 09-Sept-12 13:59:38

She has my complete sympathy, elegran!
