Bags we use the saying "when angels travel" probably started with my sister who has lived in Germany for 44 years.

My friend says that you know you are Irish if you don't need to study for exams because your granny lit a candle for you!

Me too with the Irish blood, although quite diluted now and mixed with several other nationalities. However the luck of the Irish was definitely with us two years ago when my husband and I visited Dublin in December for my birthday. That winter started early and was particularly harsh with many flights from Heathrow grounded until just before we were due to go when there was a brief hiatus, miraculously the snow just melted away and returned just after we got back. We've had similar experiences freak Mediterranean weather visiting the Gower, South Wales in April one year and I also remember going to Brittany many years ago having glorious weather every day and friends of ours going a week later and having rain every day. This year we went to Georgia and South Carolina, again just before we arrived freak storms and really bad weather and the same just after we got back. I always feel so lucky when the weather is good.

When my German friend's mother comes to visit her here in Scotland, she always seems to bring good weather. I commented on this once and she said (in German; my friend translated): "When angels travel...."

Perhaps you're an angel, anno.

I have not a drop of Irish blood as far as I know so thank goodness for the luck of the Irish! The luck of the Scots has run out this morning as it's cool and wet here too. Such a wrench getting out of bed this morning.

Well, I am one quarter Irish! For all the eight days Anno was visiting me, the sun shone and it was beautifully warm. This morning, it is raining and cool.
