Seasoning meals

I don't salt food when cooking anymore although I will take a little on some dishes, and DH has now been persuaded to take far less salt on his food because of blood pressure problems. He used to be one of the "salt first, taste after" brigade. Like Sook, I always put condiments on the table and let people make their own decision. My daughter refuses to put salt on the table and DH has never been able to pluck up the courage to ask for it! What annoys me is the amount of salt that television cooks throw about - it seems to go into their food in great handfuls sometimes!

Agree Bags. Cooking and eating nice food, especially in good company, is something that adds to the emotional bank accountsmile

Due to DHs renal problems we haven't added salt to season food before or after cooking since 1977. When we have people round for a meal we have the usual condiments on the table so guests can please themselves. I don't really care.

I'm with jane and spend my allotted 'emotional energy for food' wink on eating and enjoying my own.

I agree, Jane! grin

No. It seems a waste of emotional energygrin

I don't add salt to cooking and do not use it on my food so DH always puts salt on his food or should I say ...he takes food with his salt. I think it is a great insult to the chef to season without first tasting.

My DH showers everything with pepper before even tasting it. When I make a curry (and they're always quite hot ones) he always flings chilli sauce all over it before eating it. He hiccoughs all the way through to the end of it. confused

My DH does. As I don't use much salt I have some sympathy BUT I reckon it would be good to taste first. One day I might just make his dinner extra salty and see what happens. wink

Does anyone else get really irritated by the people who insist on putting salt/pepper/sauce all over their meal before even tasting it?
