I hope many GN members will participate in this day of action against violence to women - date for your diaries now - 14 Feb, 2013.

glassortwo Mon 24-Sept-12 20:05:06

Yes good for you Ruby.

glassortwo Mon 24-Sept-12 20:06:01

Its in my diary Jess

I watched the video and then followed the link to 1 billion rising

It made me weep for all women and my 2 lovely DiLs and my 2 beautiful GDs.
I can empathise with Ruby Wax. My father was a bully and my ex husband was a bully and my mother only loved her sons.
Why are men so frightened of women that they have to destroy them?
I will dance on Feb 14th next year and I will dance with my GDs.

glassortwo Mon 24-Sept-12 20:16:51

All Gn should dance on the 14th, even if your lucky and have not had a bully in your life stand strong for those that have.

Grannyknot Mon 24-Sept-12 20:19:42

Me too - Ruby is a bit um, peculiar, but she's kind of grown on me. Reminds me of the Maya Angelou poem Still We Rise this campaign.

Much respect, Ruby Wax! I will join in, too. It's immaterial whether women have been bullied or not, for this cause. We should all stand shoulder to shoulder to end male bullying

Well said, glass.sunshine

Bags Mon 24-Sept-12 20:50:30

Yes, I'll second that, and will dance for others.

You do all realise that you have to go out in the street and BE SEEN doing this dancing? (Round the kitchen table will not cut it) (Or by a lonely lochside Bags, lovely as that image may be smile)

And most of the passers by will not know why the flip you are doing it?

(my speakers seem to have packed in so I don't know if Ruby tells you where to go to dance. I tried lip reading. No good.)

Butternut Tue 25-Sept-12 11:23:01

Oh J - good to have you back from your hols. grin

Nanadogsbody Tue 25-Sept-12 13:46:49

Littlenellie Tue 25-Sept-12 13:51:56

No nanad but I know she will be dancing around the kitchen with me ,because that is what we always did,and sometimes we had been known to break into a dance in Asda before it came fashionable to be in a flash mob...happy dayssunshine

JO4 Tue 25-Sept-12 18:03:45

I've never forgotten a moment in time when I saw a mum and her little girl - about ten I suppose - skipping along in a Littlewoods store, singing a song. Something about "..... Jesus in the morning".

They looked so happy. smile

absentgrana Tue 25-Sept-12 18:05:58

Dance on the bubble wrap – it's so much fun. grin

JO4 Tue 25-Sept-12 18:45:50

What about that bubblewrap with huge 'bubbles' that they use to pad out parcels. That is scary stuff to jump on. grin

Daisyanswerdo Tue 25-Sept-12 23:59:38

In my diary too.
