"Today I've been is full" So I have started What I did Today, as I have something to be a granny bore with.

Today I became a gran for real. DD had my 1st GC 8 days after due date. Several days of twinges and a bad night.
DD rang me at 12;15 today.Just seen midwife at clinic, 3cm and waiting for the taxi to hospital. 5pm I had a phone call, baby had arrived at at 3:30 pm. That is 3 to 10cm in 3hrs! Noah Alexander ***. 6lb 11ozs. Forceps as baby was tiring but amazingly quick DD and SIL surprised by the speed. DD tired and sore but says she is totally in love. I am visiting tomorrow 60 miles away. What a day smile smile smile smile

We get some whoppers here, number - Daisy the Cat even avoids them! Incidentally, have you heard any more about the wee cat you were after from Cats' Protection?

Many years ago my mother in law bought me a plaque which said 'bless this mess'. I was [secretly] slightly offended at the time but I wish I'd kept it.

And another who gets notes and messages from DDs saying things like "Dust experiments in progress. Do not disturb the samples" , and smiley faces drawn in some of it.

Love spiders too. There are always loads in our house.

Marelli, I had a call this afternoon from a lady at the Boston branch of the CPL, she`s coming to make the home visit on Tuesday, about 1pm, so fingers crossed! And all of you please keep your spiders to yourselves, I`ve got enough here to keep me worried!

Marelli, crimson, number - dust rules here too. However, it was a bit embarrassing today when the meter reader came, rolled the sofa out of the way to get at the electricity meter and revealed a number of dead woodlice. I may have to cave in and get the vacuum out before he comes again. grin

jeni Fri 12-Oct-12 21:57:00

I hate arachnids. They have eight legs and that's six too many for me!

Marelli Fri 12-Oct-12 22:00:32

Oh anno - you've got three months before he comes to read the meter again....plenty of time! wink

crimson Fri 12-Oct-12 22:04:41

My son used to hide the sandwiches from his packed lunch that he didn't eat behind the sofa. It was ages before I discovered them; they were tightly clingfilmed.

So far. I've got rhe sausage casserole bubbling away for tonight.
Nipped to waitrose for a joint of beef as they didn't send it yesterday.
Found they had NO roasting. joints so ended up with a fillet steak piece.
As its a fillet I thought I'd do chateaubriand so have started the chateaubriand sauce. I've also baked the bread.

This is ME! Remember I don't cook and I don't entertain!

This is the last time I agree to help out a friend by putting up a visitor from twinned Dutch town.

I'm exhausted already and she doesn't arrive til 6.30! Help!

jeni Sat 13-Oct-12 15:45:52

Grrrr the carrots and celery in the casserole still haven't softened. This dish is supposed to take on hour! It's more than that already!

jeni Sat 13-Oct-12 15:47:00

They're now arriving at 5.30 I'm shifting into panic mode?

I have had a lazy day today and spent most of it on Gransnet. I have just been to pick up GD1 and we are going to have tea and watch Strictly Come Dancing together. Then I will take her home. She is 6 years old.

Jeni - I'm sure your company will make up for any real or imagined deficiencies in the food department. Just keep the wine flowing! grin

jeni Sat 13-Oct-12 15:54:24

She doesn't drink or so I'm told!

Talking of spiders, I once saw a bit of fluff on the floor beside my bed as I got up, sans specs, bent down to pick it up and it bit me! It was a spider and boy did it hurt! It felt like a red hot needle in my finger and took ages to wear off.

I do like them though and am amazed at the intricate webs they weave and the speed at which they create them. We have lots in our garden and the webs are truly beautiful structures.

Spent the afternoon looking after GD2 while her sister and mum went to see Disney on ice. GD is poorly and just wanted to be cuddled all the time, asked to go to bed but had to sit with her. My back is aching from trying to lift and carry her, at three she is heavier than her older sister.

I wish I had something fun to reportsad I have driven DH to mass, taken Grace for a little walkie, finished the ironing, put the towels on to wash, cleaned the hob again after DH has made his bacon and egg muffin breakfast, cooked a lasagne (which DH will turn his nose up at as he has suddenly morphed into a picky eater) oh, loaded the dishwasher (again) and that was my fun Sunday morning hmm
