"Today I've been is full" So I have started What I did Today, as I have something to be a granny bore with.

Today I became a gran for real. DD had my 1st GC 8 days after due date. Several days of twinges and a bad night.
DD rang me at 12;15 today.Just seen midwife at clinic, 3cm and waiting for the taxi to hospital. 5pm I had a phone call, baby had arrived at at 3:30 pm. That is 3 to 10cm in 3hrs! Noah Alexander ***. 6lb 11ozs. Forceps as baby was tiring but amazingly quick DD and SIL surprised by the speed. DD tired and sore but says she is totally in love. I am visiting tomorrow 60 miles away. What a day smile smile smile smile

Yesterday we took DD3 for a meal and to the theatre, a rare treat to have her to ourselves unencumbered as it were!

We saw 'One Man, Two Guvnors' and, despite having seen it before, we laughed all night. smile

Well it has been bitterly cold here today and we now have a good covering of snow.

soop Fri 26-Oct-12 13:36:53

gracesmum...we certainly get our fair share of sunny days. Yesterday's trip to Oban was a real treat. The scenery was breathtakingly beautiful.

gracesmum Fri 26-Oct-12 13:33:40

I think I meant "on the way" - we would have gone at the weekend and I understood from Countryfile that it was getting colder and with the clocks going back, it would also be darker sooner making driving just that bit more tiring! But heigh-ho, Scottish weather can often be the opposite of what we are getting down here! [umbrella] emoticon?

Bags Please don't overdo things. We want you to keep well. smile
It is a marvellous day here in Kintyre. Almost a cloudless sky. Wonderful warm autumnal colours. Crisp dry cold.

Bags Fri 26-Oct-12 13:19:26

Did you mean the weather on the way?

Bags Fri 26-Oct-12 13:18:55

Erm... I'm in Scotland. Beautiful weather.

gracesmum Fri 26-Oct-12 13:16:30

Had planned to drive up to Scotland this weekend - but arthriticky wrist/hand allied to long driving put me off and now I have seen what the weather is like, glad chickened out.

Lovely here! Temperature below six degrees but sunny. Been outside working for a while. sunshine

jeni Fri 26-Oct-12 13:11:44

It's cold wet and windy here!sad

harrigran Fri 26-Oct-12 13:09:18

It is sleeting up north today, I bet this is the edge of the Scottish snow clouds.

gracesmum Fri 26-Oct-12 12:59:23

(Hasn't it got cold? )We have been up in Birmingham at a concert at Symphony Hall last night, the Leipzig Gewandhaus orchestra playing Shostakovich's 2nd cello concerto and a Rachmaninov symphony. It was glorious!! (Present from DD and SIL to DH for his birthday in September) Saw the boys for teatime and bathtime and again this morning as we stayed (obviously) Given that DH doesn't get out as much as we would like, it was a lovely lovely evening and a welcome dose of "normality"!! AND I didn't nod off (or snore when "resting my eyes" as my grandpa used to say)

annodomini Fri 26-Oct-12 09:44:40

kitty, I was assured by the friends on either side that I didn't snore - I hope they weren't just being polite!

Ella46 Fri 26-Oct-12 09:38:03

kitty grin I love it when that sort of thing happens!

kittylester Fri 26-Oct-12 09:33:06

anno - just hope you didn't snore. grin

We went, with friends, to see a really tedious play a while ago calling at the pub on the way. All went well until the main character was droning on in a depressed(well, depressing!!) manner and a man in front of us went to sleep and started snoring. Of course, we all got the giggles, which enlivened the play no end, but quite upset the leading man blush

annodomini Thu 25-Oct-12 22:51:42

I snoozed through a vital part of a play put on by a local am dram company. The acting was up to their usual high standard but the play - well - an interesting idea but not very well realised.

Went to visit dd and DGD. They were having their 'sling meeting' which I was invited to join! I'd taken up a beanie I'd crocheted for DGD but dd decided she wanted it a bit longer?
So there I was, crocheting a couple of extra rows on when hordes of earth mothers with babies in slings arrived!shock
Dd introduced me, then said , 'it was scary to see me sitting looking like a trad grannie!'confused
The next thing I know - I'm inundated by demands to knit hats!

Hang on here!

I DONT DO DOMESTIC!

Why have I agreed to crochet some hats and give them to dd to hand out? And all for free?

I suspect I have early dementia!

HELP!
HELP!
HELP!

Ana Thu 25-Oct-12 22:15:53

Thanks, johanna! smile

johanna Thu 25-Oct-12 22:00:25

ana
That is good news. You can watch Downton Abbey on Sunday and Homeland on your computer on Monday, or vice versa.
Don't know too much about cable, I don't think we have it in our part of the world.
Anyhow you have sky already, probably all you need.
Happy Catch up.

I took delivery of a parcel this afternoon, hoping it was grandson`s C word present from Amazon, it was from Amazon alright, but was hubby`s C word present, and he was sitting right there. He`ll guess it`s for him, because if it was for anyone else I`d show it to him. Another 15 minutes and he`d have been upstairs out of the way!

celebgran Thu 25-Oct-12 21:01:29
