What I did today.

Today I:
Visited the dentist (no charge because he was re-doing some earlier work that wasn't up to scratch).
Had my nails done to keep them in good condition for the wedding and gave some help to the Vietnamese manicurist. (She had school paperwork to fill in about her four year old son and as soon as she heard I'm an ESOL teacher she scurried off to find the forms. This is very typical.)
Did some admin for a Chinese student who needed help with his business.
Listened in as my daughter had three phone calls from various health professionals - and I'm glad to report that a consultant appointment is on its way.
Became very angry!!! See my post!!
Enjoyed spending time with my lovely grandson.

Grannylin I have a friend like that. It's her who initiates arrangements, then when a couple of us have gone to the trouble of rearranging things to fit in, she backs out! Now, I just guard the suggested date and half assume it will be called off, so I've always got something else i can do instead. The time span between our meetings are getting longer and longer because we now leave it to her to show some commitment. I meet my other friend for coffee in between, and we just leave her to it. She knows we're here if she needs us

We had a nice, peaceful day wandering around the old part of Leicester really seeing things we walk past many times and read all the information notices. We found 'the' car park but it was closed to the public Then it started to drizzle so we went to a French restaurant, had lunch, wandered through John Lewis (well it would be rude not too, really ) came home, drew the curtains and settled down. A gentle kind of day.

Note to crimson - Diwali switch on is 4th November and the actual day is, I think, Tuesday 13th.

Gally, that was kind of you - but it was at 7pm that I was heading for Glenrothes along the by-pass, when I thought I was going home - and catching sight of my reflection in the bus window didn't help me - I looked like Winnie the Witch ! Hope you got the car sorted out ....and also the chutney ?
The walk in the sunshine would do you more good than attending to lists - and as we know, time spent with friends is never time wasted.
Narg, a warm arm around your shoulders from me - and to all of you who are feeling quite despairing just now. xx

Arrange to meet her a few times and call it off at the last minute. It might just make her value the times when you can see her.

I want to have a moan but it seems so self indulgent on such a sad grey day.I'll do it quickly: invited to a friend's house today for a walk, a cuppa and cake but at the last minute she texted to say she was still at work.This has become a pattern.She invites me, calls it off with various excuses.car, dog, tired etc.Its very annoying because I change my own plans to see her.Why does she keep inviting me ?Moan over

Hope things are going well for everyone now.
I hung around until 4pm playing on computer - trying to find someone who doesn't seem to be on Ancestry census although he's on other sites!
Taking pills and food at the right intervals.
Some wood was delivered for the (hopefully) car standing in the front. I pulled it throughto the back garden but haven't got any further ie cuprinol....

Thinking about DGS's costume for Halloween...he wants to be a troll and to make it, so he is I think coming on Friday and we will work it out! (Mum thinks I can do it better, pats self on back...)
Went on a tour of charity shops and didn't find anything nice, but there are possible things to adapt for a troll costume.

When I am feeling down your posts always cheer me .
Reading that you were writing a list at four this morning makes me realize that I am not alone in waking and not sleeping in the early hours
Felt very misrable today. Grey damp weather does not help but feel better having cleared a hugh pile of leaves from the driveway.

I hemmed curtains(which have been waiting to be done for 18 months) sewed on a button, tidied my hobbies room, wrote a post card,paid a bill and watched the leaves fall.Now going to hang a picture.

....the chutney is smelling very odd - I wonder if I've put too much of something and not enough of the other in it I shall blame Good Housekeeping if it all goes pear shaped.

Today was a 'chasing my tail' sort of day and I have just got home and realised that I have forgotten to pick up my prescriptions from the pharmacy. However, I can hold out till tomorrow. This afternoon, I got myself into the swimming pool and felt really good until, after 10 lengths, my feet cramped. They still feel a bit odd! The doctor once suggested tonic water for cramp but wouldn't prescribe it on the NHS.

Oh Marelli You should have called me - I was, yet again, at the Honda Garage in the afternoon and could have rescued you.
Quite a few of us seem to be going through some tough times - there are some sad posts today; I hope we will all feel happier, our problems be resolved and our lives back to some normality very soon and for those who are looking on very black times indeed, let's hope the light will eventually appear at the end of the tunnel. and
Today I was supposed to be catching up on a long list of 'to do's' which I wrote at 4 this morning but I got sidetracked and went for a walk in the glorious sunshine with a friend and stopped for a at the beach cafe and this afternoon I am making clementine and cranberry chutney ready for home-made Christmas presents; heaven knows why, as I haven't made chutney for years and years so it will probably be a disaster - time will tell

Bought a new cd player [ouch] and switched my electricity tarrif off Economy 7; something I've been meaning to do for a long time. Was advised to do so ages ago; thought I'd need a new meter but I don't.

Best wishes and for you too, kittylester. I didn't mean to ignore you but broadband is terribly slow this morning for some reason. By the time I get to where I'm heading, I've forgotten why I wanted to go there.

That's a real worry GA hope you sock it to them really, really hard. Let us know how you get on and, of course, how your daughter and the pregnancy progress. All that and a wedding - but you'll cope, you are a gran after all.

OGM you sound as though you had a wonderful time - we have to take the bad with the good and,as one of those who are not so happy at the moment, it's lovely to hear of happy happenings.

DD1 was supposed to be travelling to Exeter today for work and wouldn't be back till tomorrow evening so she asked me to stay overnight in her house to look after the two DGSs and the dogs. I spent a sleepless night worrying about how I was going to pick up the boys from the bus stop, take them home to get changed, pick up DH from his fishing trip (remembering to take a change of clothes), take them all for a meal in PREZZO (vouchers to use up ), drive DH back home, feed dogs, shut up chickens, drive back to DD's house, feed her dogs, supervise homework etc., and make sure the boys have everything ready for the morning.

Was woken by the phone early this morning to say the trip to Exeter is off as practically the whole workforce has gone down with the Winter Vomiting Bug!!

whitewave, it'll all look a bit better this morning, even with a bit of a scratch to the car. During the night, while we're lying awake our worries tumble about in our minds, multiplying by the minute. Hopefully your DH will have a soon have a diagnosis that can be properly treated .
grannyactivist, it's a worrying time for you - you'll be feeling as if you just want to get hold of the relevant 'professional', and shut her/him in a room with your daughter and yourself and ask them just to address the job in hand. Are none of them communicating with each other - or just hoping someone will take the responsibility for your daughter's on-going care? xx

Oh whitewave no wonder you were awake. Hospital carparks can be a nightmare with everyone visiting at the same time. And never enough disabled spaces when there are lots of outpatients clinics on. There is a dreadful temptation to go over and over these things. If I were you I would not bother him with a car scratch (which can be fixe) while he is so poorly.
