"Today I've been is full" So I have started What I did Today, as I have something to be a granny bore with.
Today I became a gran for real. DD had my 1st GC 8 days after due date. Several days of twinges and a bad night.
DD rang me at 12;15 today.Just seen midwife at clinic, 3cm and waiting for the taxi to hospital. 5pm I had a phone call, baby had arrived at at 3:30 pm. That is 3 to 10cm in 3hrs! Noah Alexander ***. 6lb 11ozs. Forceps as baby was tiring but amazingly quick DD and SIL surprised by the speed. DD tired and sore but says she is totally in love. I am visiting tomorrow 60 miles away. What a day

Have been to Lakeland, enough said
Good news gma
gracesmum careful not to be stretched like elastic! Work in a little 'you time' (not very well expressed!)
Nunber who is Mia? ..... Keep up OGM
Glad to hear your good news, gma
.
We have shifted wood, over a metric ton of it, DH, DD, and I. We watched a leaf fall down through a tree and thought it was a robin, and we watched a robin 'fall' down through a tree, and thought it was a leaf. And I have made some bread and hung out washing, and brought in washing.
The wood man brought his baby in the cab of the truck because he's really a house-husband at the moment but is helping to train the new truck driver who can't be insured until next month. Nice to deal with family business people
.
gma wonderful news
Enjoy your time away gracesmum but hopefully your daughter will make a speedy recovery.
I'm always shocked to hear about younger people having pneumonia but it does seem to be on the increase. Hope the antibiotics work.
happy for you gma I absolutely agree about NHS when it comes to the serious things! Fingers crossed for you number.
Off to DD's for a few days as she has pneumonia and SIL is away from home for the next few nights, so looking forward to seeing little men and just hoping this second course of a-bs will sort her out. I have never had pneumonia and always associated it with old dears, but a friend younger than me was in hospital with it just a few weeks ago. Is it on the increase?
Will miss you if I don't get on line - be good!
Wonderful news gma!
Great news gma and agree about the good old NHS!
Good luck with your inspection number sure it will be fine.
Hope you feel better soon, Anno
What did I do today? (well, about 9.20am this morning actually) I sent up a big thankyou to whoever was listening for the good news from our local hospital that hubs recent MRI scan showed "no problems whatsoever" After major surgery 2 years ago for skin cancer and 5 weeks of radiotherapy we had a scare and the scan was organised quickly. Thank God for the NHS-much maligned and knocked, but there when you need them.
Have just got back from seeing Mia, she`s beautiful, and we`d love to have her, subject to the home inspection, so fingers crossed.
I will, Alie. I am going to inflict my cold on a train load of people today! Kids have gone to school, the cats are going bonkers all over the house and I have to pack up and go.
And the best thing you could do, too, anno. So sorry we couldn't meet, but continue to look after yourself!
when, you make me feel tired and all I have done today is snooze and drink lots of tea - and sew badges on GS's Beaver sweatshirt. I wasn't born to sew!
I've still not gone to bed! But I am going right now. Good night peeps
when bless you
Perhaps we should have a thread dedicated to tales like these? I'm not exhausted tonight as DC is (amazingly) undemanding, but tomorrow will be a whole new kettle of fish. I didn't need the translation as I speak the lingo! The nearly 3-year old doesn't say she is 'a oyed' but she does say 'I'm NOT happy' before flouncing off. Same meaning! My daughter teaches too and it's such a demanding job especially with a young family.
Oh when isn't it a good job we love them so much? Sleep very, very well.
I am surrounded by boxes, some of which we unpacked with DGD1 and DGS1. I have to say that DGD has an organisational style to be envied by many, and an ability to arrange a cupboard with much more flair than me. But it's all the odds and ends that are difficult to deal with. However, my home is returning to me, AND I am sitting on my settee. Yay! But not for much longer (yawn)
when you have good right to be ready for bed.

Exhausted! Picked up my little grandsons from afterschool club. Long day when you're just 4. One schoolbag missing, but it could turn up tomorrow. New school trousers frayed around the hem - daughter says so are the other three pairs! First tiredness tantrum when we got home, and I foolishly said 'no, you do not climb up to get the cereal box out of the top cupboard. Amid tears and 'want my mummy' (had this with the other one a fortnight ago) got an agreement to eat the chicken wraps and yogurt with strawberries, but that was abandoned for 'want a treat.'
Next boundary set and rejected, when I gently reminded them to continue with what they had been given. More tears. Into pyjamas, then they wanted to swap PJs, so ok, did that. Up the stairs for a refusal to brush teeth, so I brushed teeth and they burst into tears and were ready to phone Childline. Asked then why were they crying now - 'cos i a oyed.' (Translation - because i am annoyed). Into bed and more tears when a trampoline jump went wrong. Two stories, agreed to leave the landing light on, then everyone back out of bed to see if my watch had got to the time mummy was due home. More tears because mummy was still driving home, but I steeled myself, tucked them in, gave them a cuddle and went downstairs. As I got to the bottom step, it all stopped and a little voice said 'nana's gone downstairs now.' Happy chat followed, then fast asleep.
Mummy comes home fom late teaching night, bursts into tears because she's just done a 12 hour day and didn't see her angels for bedtime. Mopped her up and came home. I'm going to bed now.
Thanks Ana, I think you are one who realises how precious these little ones are
Thanks glass Lovely to see the photos today, hope to see more of the Midlands gang!
grannylin it was fantastic meeting you and eventually putting a face to you, it was totally mad wasn't it! I just wish I had longer to speak to everyone, I only managed a hello/goodbye to Bags and a couple of others. I would like to be in for Christmas 2013, so it may be a little early to book your flight
but as soon as we are done you are all more than welcome.
That's good glass
Full of admiration for you glass. Loved meeting you all at Gally's.I'm very ignorant of places in the northeast and Scotland and feel really inspired to start exploring.Have you got a completion date? Can we start organising a Gransnet house warming?
moomin all prep for the trusses (they have just gone into production) will be complete this weekend. Saturday was glorious but spent the day moving the scaffold....never again!!!! Then woke up Sunday morning to a white out thought it was snow but it was a really heavy frost, and the caravan door had frozen solid couldn't open it!. But once the sun defrosted everything we had a great day and got lots done.
